Well I have nothing against updating units/profiles which needs attention. But why the heck everyone seems to be using PanO like a Santa and taking every single possible toy which could be labeled "PanO's".
Speaking of which, has there been an official (or at least semi-official) answer as to why Teutons are no longer linkable? One guy from our community, a hardcore MO fan, literally stopped playing because of this, as he has a greatly painted Teutonic Order themed army. And I'm just curious, they were so overpowered in links or what? A Teuton + magisters is so much better than a Santiago?
We a Bolt fireteam n sheeeit. Looks like a seriously good profile, good job CB. Can't wait for the new Combi+Light Shotgun Medium Infantry in Varuna with 9 models and 0 fans.
If I'm not mistaken any semi-official word is from @ijw that they should never had a CORE on them in a first place (so well, fact that they were able to link was a mistake in a first place just like PanO itself funny enough it lasted for a year or so ;P). No idea. My money would be that they had no time to actually test it (and Teutons would still probably be "inferior" to Santiago as they both have Spitfires but Santiagos have additional toys and specialist).
I can't even be mad because it's the Raicho. If there was any TAG in the game that deserved an upgrade, it would be the Morats. Like the Guijila is destined to be boring because that's not what the faction is about, and pretty much all the other TAGs in the game have at least one profile that does something really cool. Aggressive minelaying for offensive purposes is also a super Morat approach to a typically defensive tool.
We will get BoltTag with mine dispenser, hmg+heavy shotgun in n5. But he will be overcosted and everyone will have new better skills by that time
I hope this heralds some change for all main battle TAGs... Guija, Lizard, etc. Wait, we're talking about Teutons too? Honestly if someone said "these are my Teutons, I really like the Order but they can't link in N3, so I'm going to use the Hospitaller/Santiago rules for them." Sweet. Great idea. As for PanO cultural appropriation: if Bolts want to get a Minelauncher for 1 SWC, I'd pay it. Haris? I'd pay that too. Minelauncher, boarding shotgun, Haris Bolt is totally something I'd field. Spending 5 Orders on Turn 1 to fire/reload and deploy 6 mines in the midfield? Gladly. It would be an entirely new way to play NCA, and I'd love it.
Problem is that they wouldn't offer much comparing to aftermentioned orders (except cool look/fluff). While being a bit cheaper they are lacking any kind of special niche/equipment/skill (unless you face many Sepsitors) and they "only" carry a Spitfire. No quarrell with someone playing them like that but... it would be "almost" like a link full of Magisters.
Yeah, Teutons in a link would mostly just be for Berserk, EXP CCW and even better Panzerfausts. Those aren't necessarily bad incentives though.
I'd feel a lot happier running the Knight link up the field and considering it "disposable" if it had Teutons + Magisters instead of Hospitallers + Magisters. As it stands I feel like I over-value keeping the HMG alive (simply because it's a huge beatstick) and I tend to play the link a lot more conservatively. In games where the HMG goes down, I am more apt to reform the link and throw them into the meat grinder. Which always seems to turn out well, it's almost like BS15 linked Panzerfausts and LSGs are great! Really I should start throwing the team forward more often.
