It seems like there is a contradiction in the Reinforcement rules with regards to moving a commlink trooper to the reinforcement group on the turn it arrives. Reinforcement rules state that: "Troopers cannot be moved into or out of Reinforcement Combat Groups until the player’s following Tactical Phase." And Commlink states: "When the Reinforcement Section is deployed in the Tactical Phase, the Commlink Trooper can be moved to any of the Reinforcement Section’s Combat Groups, without spending a Command Token." Can the commlink trooper be moved on the first turn as reinforcement arrive? Or is the commlink entry just intended to say that it doesn't cost command token but it still cannot switch group on first turn?
It does read like the commlink troop is an exception. It would be weird otherwise to specify the timing of the deployment if it were just a command token discount.
One of my players just asked me if this has been clarified in any way. We have a big tournaments coming up with Reinforcements as Extras and since some of our player are super comepetitive it would be nice to have official statement. @ijw , would you mind making some statement? Rules don't clarify when the troopers can be moved, except for Executive Use of Command Tokens and Commlink just says 'during Tactical Phase'
There is no other moment a comlink trooper can be moved using its own rule other than the moment the reinforcements been deployed. So it must happen during the 1.2 Request reinforcements step immediately after reinforcements have been deployed and before 1.3 Retreat! check happens.
I see my mistake. So 'When' in this bullet point stand as a moment in time, not an 'if' statement. Thank you
