Hi Everybody! I've been here for a long time looking at all the awesome stuff you do so I jump in. This paint log is for sharing but actually a way for me to stay motivated at painting. I usually stop after a few hours and always add to the backlog. This has to stop! So.. here you will find something for every taste! On the backlog list are around 200 minis : - Pano - Yu Jing - Ariadna - Combined Army - Nomads - Haqqislam and also, some Firestorm Armada stuff, WHB elves, dystopian wars ships and some other minis. All in once place! So stay tuned as I progress slowly but steadily to a backlog free future!!! You can help me by being utterly polite/hypocritical and saying everything is beautiful (come on..I know what my painting looks like...) or by offering constructive criticism like you always do and what I admire in this community!
Here we go with the backlog : Infinity : I'll stop there for now. Not sure if it's bad manners or even against the rules to post other kinds of backlogs here. :/ Next, some painted minis to give you a taste of the far future!
Lol... good luck dude. Hah hah hah hah. I thought my backlog was big... I'm looking forward to seeing painted though.
Yeah I know...it's really gotten out of control. I'm more of a collectioner than painter or gamer. I buy too much and wifey started screaming in my ears at the size of the thing. As I want to keep a good hearing I had to do something :) I plan to finish the haqqislam starter by the end of week end thanks!
Here we are folks!! Plan was for a Haqqislam starter by end of week end. Before Shading : After Shading : The troops : I'm quite happy with the result! The camera doesn't give them justice..or it has a better resolution than my eyes! And yes, I use Army Painters quickshade, I cannot allow myself to be too technical and do it in 5 years. I think that was my problem before, wanting to do super hyper well and in the end, not manage it. Also, it hides the errors you do by letting some white primer visible Just a bit of highlight and good to go! What do you think for now?
Hello! Little update before the highlights....some addition to the backlog hahahahah!!!! Have to strip a bit but : bipandra, konstantinos, santiago knights, hexa sniper, naga hacker, kirpal and holy sepulchre...wow!! Thanks BT ;)
Here we are with finished Haqqislam starter pack!!! What do yo folks think about it? not too bad? Im really satisfied with them for a tabletop/tabletop+ level. Promised, next time I'll get myself a DIY lightbox..these pictures are horrible. You are excused for thinking the minis are horrible. This time only....
Hi Taylor! thanks a lot!! Im not sure. Ive got some cork rolls and could do some cracked earth/road style. I don't have sand to simulate desert sadly. Do you have some ideas?
Yup. :) What I did with my Druze was first put down some sand with white glue, but I made it all clumpy. Then, once that was done, I smothered it with crackle paste. I let that dry overnight. The next day I put down some parasite brown, then washed it with brown and black ink 1:1 ratio, then i highlighted it with terra (Vallejo model colour), washed it again, watering down the ink, then I drybrushed it with khaki lightly- and applied a sepia wash. It's not as desert-y as some other bases out there, but I like it.
Bicarbonate? Over superglue it dries quickly and leaves a rough texture. You will have to paint it, of course, as it will look like white crystals otherwise.
The problem I see is that the fumes could damage the paint, it's best used before any serious painting. The trick is mostly used as reinforcement, filler and activator (superglue settles really fast with it, and creates a hard blob). It's also sandable once dry.
Oh snap! (my turn). they look really good these Druze! what is crackle paste? I cannot use the bicarbonate this time but I'll think about it. Salt desert someone? hahaha what do you want to see next? yu jing?
It's exactly what the name suggests, a paste that crackles. GW has not long ago released some products that are basically that, the ones to use on bases to create a cracked base effect. But artists have been using this for a while already, there's a few brands to choose from. Here's a video by Luke showcasing this:
As Jher said - it's super cheap too. You can pick it up at any hobby store like Michael's or the Hobby Lobby (i think that's what it's called in the states).
Look for the transparent one if you can. That way you can do ice (apply over blue white surface) or anything else (just cover with paint later).
So folks, went through the backlog and found some easy wins : these fellows are already partly painted by yours truly. The mission if I accept it (do I?) Is to finish them while saving the already painted parts. And hope I do it by the end of the week..if not by next wednesday.. maybe..if I got time... and I do not do video games...we'll see!
