Hi everyone! It's been a while since i last played with my pano's (last time I played was Warzone wotan!), but recently i was talking with some friends and we convinced another of ours to start playing (but he went with chin chong, that traitor!) The thing is that when i checked up on the Army webpage i could see that there are new units and many changes (trinitarian terciaries? crusader brethren without HMG?? neoterra is now a non aligned faction??? acontecimento doesn.... well, they sucked anyways so it serves them nicely ) I wanted to ask you guys, what would you suggest for playing once again? I was thinking of building Svalarheima but i realized that i would have to buy the starter box if i wanted to have a decent list or buying the new order sergeants and the new figures for Military orders. Anyways, what would you suggest for someone who stopped playing at the beggining of N3?
Ok, first things first. Welcome back! NCA and Acontecimento have both had their model range discontinued, and the N4 Sectorials aren't due out 'till November (along with all the other OOP sub-factions). Yes, there IS a lot more in NA2 these days 'though. What to suggest for playing kinda depends on what you have. But basically HI and TAGs got good. So whatever you used to run, you will probably want more HI and even a TAG for your force. Mixed links are much more of a thing, so watch out for that too. Military Orders have (yet another) re-write "coming soon" so I find it hard to recommend them right now. So if it's a decision between them and Svalarheima then I say Svalarheima. List building today demands an answer to "what are you doing about hacking?" and "how are you going to kill high armour targets?" while "what about that Warband spam?" isn't as much of a "thing" now. So you likely want to lean into different tools to some extent. But the basics of Infinity haven't changed, get a good burst high damage gun with a decent modifier into position to kill enemy targets one at a time = profit. For PanOceania, anyway. Playing fancy games is for other factions, now more than ever.
Thanks man! Well basically i used to play with some of the minis in my collection: The minis of the icestorm box + father knight an Indigo Specops a CSU Konstantinos A hospitallier doctor a templar a templar with hmg 2 crusader brethren with shotguns a crusader brethren with hmg and i also have the nomads part of the icestorm box, from which i used the Spektr as a Hacker Hexa because of the Camo TO. I really liked playing with the fusiliers, the sniper nisse and the "Hexa", so i thought i kinda leant more to the neoterra faction and was going to start collecting those minis but life got in the way and had to stop playing. So, now that i'm back, i'm at a loss on which way to go because of the many changes the game has had. Any suggestions?
Well, assuming you are happy using Fusiliers as Order Sergeants (and you 100% should be) then that sounds more like a Military Orders base than anything else. Re-work or not there's good stuff there. Have you checked out the recent discussions of Military Orders in these forums? @daboarder has a lot of great ideas about how to get them to work and it's worth hitting him up for ideas.
Not sure what your Templars are, they never had models in Infinity as the order was excommunicated. Teuton and Teuton Spitfire maybe? The Father Knight is now a Knight of Justice, essentially the same unit but they let women join now.
lol Good call, I just assumed they were Teutons! And, yes, it's useful to point out that the Father Knight is a Knight of Justice.
Yep, those ones! i always get those mixed up XD the ones that wore black, were beast in CC in N2 and who weren't hospitalliers. i might give a look at them, maybe buy the friar and som actual sergeants (but fusiliers are just sooo cool XD) on the mean time i bought the total reaction and missile bots, just because i feel i was running very low on heavy weapons
Hi again! I played a game today with a friend who's still learning to play with yu jing and, even if it was evident the difference of having played a long time ago vs.a totally new player, i saw some changes in the game. My army list was: (Svalarheima) Fusilier (lieutenant) link team of a winter Orc and 3 fusiliers (1 hacker and 1 paramedic) duo of a father knight and an hospitallier doctor with multi rifle locust hacker nisse sniper Nokk hacker Boyg with missile launcher When i was testing the minis, i noted that the Boyg is a complete monster against light infantry, but i have my doubts he's as efficient as that against heavy infantry or remotes, i guess i'll wait when the opportunity to test this presents itself. On another note, i really liked the Nokk Hacker. Having mimetism and forward deployment makes him very useful when hacking consoles right at the start of the game, helping the army to mantain the upper foot from the very start. I'll play another game next week with another friend who is far more veteran in the game, let's see how does my army list work.
Be careful with the Nokk and Locust hackers. At some point you're going to run into other midfield skirmishers with Camo and Killer Hacking devices. You can't attack them effectively, and they are a lethal threat to you. There's a reason why these aren't popular choices with the PanOceanian community more widely, and that's it. The thing with the Boyg Missile Launcher, and you probably haven't had enough time playing with it yet for it to be very apparent (but it will, eventually), is that the limited number of dice your are rolling leaves you vulnerable to spikes in outcomes. Basically, while the average outcomes for it's attacks are solid, there is a higher than average (for an offensive piece) chance that you will simply lose and take damage during your active turn. You are running all 4 Fusiliers and the ORC as a 5-Trooper Fireteam Core, right? Maybe try a Haris of Hospitallier?
