Hi guys, We're about to start a Paradiso campaign at my local club. For the first mission I will be opposed to a Combined Army player (no secto AFAIK, but we decided not to bound people to sectorials anyways). I was planning to play it with our brand new semi-full of semi-HIs roster. At first because I like over-trained professional military guys. At second look, I'm pretty sure it can do a decent job at it... Just for you to know, Paradiso missions are overloaded with specials rules; just like ITS, but worst. :P For the first one, we need: - Engineers (to get the alien data from one of the 3 possible spots), - EVO HD and/or baggage (to transmit data we just retrieved), - Hackers (to hack data transmission if the enemy is quicker at it), - A Spec-Ops looser hanging around farming XPs, - A Warcor for propaganda. So my first thought was: okay, let's link some Haidao with Zuyongs to deliver them where needed while keeping a Zhanshi core for AROs. And so I did: Paradiso - 101 ────────────────────────────────────────────────── GROUP 1 8 Haris ZÚYŎNG (Fireteam: Duo, Tactical Awareness) HMG / 2 Breaker Pistols, Knife. (1.5 | 38) ZÚYŎNG (Fireteam: Haris, Tactical Awareness) Combi Rifle + 1 TinBot B (Deflector L2) / 2 Breaker Pistols, Knife. (0.5 | 34) HǍIDÀO Engineer Combi Rifle, D-Charges / Breaker Pistol, Knife. (0 | 28) Core SON-BAE Yaókòng Missile Launcher / Electric Pulse. (1.5 | 17) HǍIDÀO Hacker (Killer Hacking Device) Boarding Shotgun / Breaker Pistol, Knife. (0 | 26) ZHANSHI Hacker (Hacking Device) Combi Rifle / Pistol, Knife. (0.5 | 19) GUĬ FĒNG Spec-Ops (0 XP) Combi Rifle / Pistol, Knife. (0 | 11) PANGGULING FTO (Repeater) Light Shotgun / Electric Pulse. (0 | 13) GROUP 2 4 1 Duo ZÚYŎNG (Fireteam: Duo, Tactical Awareness) HMG / 2 Breaker Pistols, Knife. (1.5 | 38) HǍIDÀO Engineer Combi Rifle, D-Charges / Breaker Pistol, Knife. (0 | 28) Loose guys DĀOYĪNG Lieutenant L2 Hacker (Hacking Device) Boarding Shotgun / Breaker Pistol, Knife. (0.5 | 29) WARCOR (Aerocam) Flash Pulse / Stun Pistol, Knife. (0 | 3) WÈIBĪNG Yaókòng Combi Rifle, Sniffer / Electric Pulse. (0 | 16) 6 SWC | 300 Points Open in Infinity Army That seems to answer all the needs... But I'm a n00b player, so I'm pretty sure most of you will find this odd and broken (probably not on the right side of broken). Any thought about it? Lurking around and getting wrecked by rules in threads I tried to participate in (just kidding @Triumph, no offense taken ;)) I realized that a Zhanshi HD core could also be very effective thanks to on-going discussions about infowar against IA! I mean it will provide lots of hackers, and actually (effectively? - not an English native speaker, sorry) spam AROs on probable CA hackers - I'm pretty sure he will field some EI xxx Hacking Devices. So what about this?: Paradiso 101 - Infowar ────────────────────────────────────────────────── GROUP 1 10 Core ZHANSHI Hacker (Hacking Device) Combi Rifle / Pistol, Knife. (0.5 | 19) ZHANSHI Hacker (Hacking Device) Combi Rifle / Pistol, Knife. (0.5 | 19) ZHANSHI Hacker (Hacking Device) Combi Rifle / Pistol, Knife. (0.5 | 19) GUĬ FĒNG Spec-Ops (0 XP) Combi Rifle / Pistol, Knife. (0 | 11) SHÀNG JÍ Combi Rifle + Light Flamethrower + TinBot B (Deflector L2) / Pistol, Shock CCW. (0 | 40) Haris ZÚYŎNG (Fireteam: Haris, Tactical Awareness) Combi Rifle + 1 TinBot B (Deflector L2) / 2 Breaker Pistols, Knife. (0.5 | 34) HǍIDÀO Engineer Combi Rifle, D-Charges / Breaker Pistol, Knife. (0 | 28) PANGGULING FTO (Repeater) Light Shotgun / Electric Pulse. (0 | 13) Duo MÓWÁNG (NCO) Spitfire, Flammenspeer / Heavy Pistol, Knife. (2 | 54) HǍIDÀO Engineer Combi Rifle, D-Charges / Breaker Pistol, Knife. (0 | 28) GROUP 2 1 1 DĀOYĪNG Lieutenant L2 (Minelayer) MULTI Sniper, Antipersonnel Mines / Breaker Pistol, Knife. (1.5 | 32) WARCOR (Aerocam) Flash Pulse / Stun Pistol, Knife. (0 | 3) 5.5 SWC | 300 Points Open in Infinity Army I have a repeater to keep the Haris in range of Zhanshis HD; I need to move with care the Duo but it should be fine. On the downside, I loose most of my firepower... Maybe I should replace the Mowang with a Hulang for E/M nades? Well... Here are my thoughts, but I'm very interested in yours so I can learn and become a list-building master too. ;)
It looks like, should you wind up on an open table, you may struggle to clear AROs and advance. Your only options outside 24 are your LT and the Mowang's Flammenspeer. The Mowang should be able to handle it through resilience alone unless linked Missile Launchers are involved, especially if your opponent has had to overinvest in nonsense to get the mission done too. What kind of table does your group usually use?
Well, tables are usually quite covered. Similar to what you can see here: https://i.ibb.co/kBxCRWR/20181113-162142.jpg (not one of our tables, but kind of comparable). You're right highlighting that I have almost no option out of Combi range. It bothers me a bit as I don't have any smoke to block LoF if I need to go through an open field... While I need to think about it and see if minor adjustments are possible to balance that.
@ijw used to have a complete list of all the items you needed for each mission, I can't seem to find it now. But make sure you have absolutely EVERYTHING on that list. Also, don't forget that Paradiso missions end as soon as you put your opponent into Retreat!, you do not get to continue scoring objectives after that.
Oh, such a list would be nice indeed! And yes, that's a pity, you need not to stomp your opponent if you wanna farm objectives.
I'll tag him again, see if he can find that spreadsheet. It listed missions down the left side and required specialists across the top. Made life very easy. @ijw , where did you put that Paradiso Specialists table?
I used the Christmas vacations to level up my Google-fu. And then I can post this here (found in a post from @ijw on DakkaDakka): http://wargamingtrader.com/infinity/paradiso-reqs That's probably what @Section9 was refering to as the complete list of all the items you needed for each mission. Thanks for creating and mentioning it dudes! ;)
