I am wanting to bring OSS to tournament, and I know a little bit about them after reading the tactica, and playing dakinis in 0 12, but need list building ideas and concepts. Does anybody have lists they like that are tournament valid?

It would be helpful to see the missions that you'll be playing and what kinds of things you would like to bring.

Here are two lists that I’ve used to reasonable effect before.

Another thing I've been likely lately, or at least before the great quarantine of 2020, is to put my fireteam and Apsara in the second combat group. The Dakinis make a phenomenal buffer against incoming alpha strikes and having them in your second pool can keep the first going a little bit longer.

In any case, these are all fairly similar Dakini lists that fit a pretty standard mold for OSS, or at least what I have seen of it.

    Good luck!

Thanks, some of the game modes are capture and protect, looting and sabotaging, rescue, and Decap. I was just kind of thinking in general what are some basic list concepts.

No "big ARO" pieces but if you need it you have expendables proxies and you could affort to loose one of the daikinis hmg. Even in a desesperate movement you could use Dart. And too, use your "dakini hmg and deva spitfire" in fireteam. The idea here is not allow your aro pieces to see to much, in order to make waste orders to your rival. If you win rolls, then Ok, but if you loosed but survives then use "guts" and hide, so they have to move forwards to catch you and them fight against other piece. Most of them have 1/2 or 2 wounds or 2 unconscious states, so if the oppnent don't shoot one more time later you can bring up again your pieces. Don't forget that a single dakini with upgrade "assisted" fire is a bad ass. If you go first don't be shame and use your "fireteam" as bait and then deploy your dakini hmg in one flank where you cand put him assisted fire and let the rival cry ;)

The concept is the same as the lsit with Spec Ops but we don't have a second hmg dakini, so you will have to do more use of the proxies, or you could loose the Deva Spitfire and have 3 dakinis hmg. This could work too if you breaks the fireteam when you need it and launchs a "missile dakini"

This two works pretty much the same, spec-ops or not. In the one with SpecOps you can place two TO Camo markers and most of people think about one Dasyu and the Proxy, but not in a second Dasyu, this is something really usefull. And most of people don't know or remember nothing about the Dasyu Lt... Andromeda with superior infiltration allow you try to deploy her inside the enemy half of the table and give some additional protection over your TOmarker if is your Lt and the enemy manages to thread it in deployment phase.

The second list, with no spec ops, works pretty much as the one with, except that you should place all your camos as CO and not as TO. This could be really confussing to the rival. Specially if you play against armies with a lot of camos or any kind of camo/impersonator infiltrator. The absence of valuables targets and hidden troups make the rival don't know what to do :P

The "camo based" list it is something people don't expect to find when playing against SSO, so it is in your advantage :)

    Beginner questions:
    For yoink
    1) What use are Lamedh's? Just a repeater with an order? (I ask mostly because I noticed they lack a mini, even under the variations among other sects, same with Daleth).
    2) Assuming Apsara is hidden somewhere to buff the dakini team, wouldn't it also make sense to have other remotes in teams in the same group, or would something like a Rudra/ Yadu duo usually default to the Yadu shooting (without the buff) to make that redundant anyway?
    for Urobos
    3) Wouldn't a netrod be better than a warcor? (looking at the last list)

Umm... better? I wouldn't say so, only different. Warcor is an "aro piece" you don't have if you play the netrod. And you deploy only a few things visibles, so... netrod probably will be relatively close to the enemy and easy to kill, plus you don't wanna show one of yours camo in order to protect the netrod, so, probably will be the first casualty in game. In absence of fireteams you can use the tokens to do coordinated orders or to change the order, maybe to "cure" or "fix" something (reroll a dice) but with VOL 15 you shouldn't need more than one token to do that. Yes, sometimes dices are "evil bastards" but not always. But yet, if you are more confortable deploying the Netrod instead the Warcor, it is ok. At first I play the Netrod, later a friend of mine tell me about change the netrod for a warcor... :)

The Daleth, Lamedh, Zayin and Samekh are all Rebots chassis, the kit is enough to mount any two of those (they just have different nose attachement). It's the same for the other factions, the Size 3 are all teh same box (and same for Size 4)

I figured the flashpulse ARO vs the regular order of the netrod + preserving the posthumans's regular order if they meet their end, rather than putting the netrod out to use as a repeater.

    1) Lamedh is a silhouette 3 remote on the same chassis as the Daleth, Zayin, and Samekh. It is 8 points for one model that generates a regular order and has a flash pulse as a defensive weapon. It also has an onboard repeater to expand your hacking area. It also carries sniffers that can be placed on the table to expand the area of a sensor sweep, which can reveal camouflaged and hidden models.
    2) The Apsara needs to be in the same combat group as any fireteam it is going to buff. It can only buff one fireteam at a time and takes an order to reestablish or switch to a different fireteam. I’ve found that I rarely want to spend the order to buff a different team and prefer to rely on the one core team. You could run a core team and a haris, but I find that I can’t do that and still bring the stuff I need to accomplish the mission and defend my remotes with hackers.

    3) Both are great for different reasons. The netrod is completely defenseless and provides a regular order. The warcore tends to be a pain in the ass that does nothing more than waste one of your opponent’s orders. Sometimes though, it is can get a lucky roll and stop and alpha strike or a flanking attack.

Netrods aren’t repeaters. They are great for keeping that posthuman order around if they stick their landing and you’re able to cover them though. Usually my netrods die long before my proxies do.

It is also worth noting that it’s a good idea to bring an 8 point probot when you have netrods, as enemy minesweepers can steal your netrods and you can take them back with yours.

Yes, of course Netrods are great, they land better than any Pano troop with AD, hehe, for example, and the option of preserve the proxy order is amazing, but to me is only something it could happens eventually... When you place 2 of them the thing changes a little.

As @yoink101 said unfortunately Netrods tends to have a short live more than all the proxies. When you play a more traditional list, with some "dedicated ARO pieces" like a Daikini Multi Snipper or the REM with ML in a Fireteam, or with more visible troups then Netrods could survive more than one turn or at least do waste half order to the rival (sometimes is something really valuable). With the list I posted, only when the Netrod lands in the "perfect" spot will have some chances to survive one extra turn. Of course, if you go first maybe it survives a little longer, but as I said before "netrod" probably will be the first target enemy will choose. When he advance to catch your visible pieces or to discover the camo markers, probably use half order to shoot the Netrod when possible and makes you loose one order. So, with this list, dont be confident in do use of the Netrod, but yet is too a good option.

For example, if you wanna do a lot of coordinated orders, maybe doing use fo the two nagas with mines and the dasyu, and later recamo the three of them in CO level, maybe netrod will be a better choice. If not, maybe will be the Warcor, because is a piece which could brings a little defense of your other visibles pieces. You have few visibles miniatures, so you probably could find some place in the talbe where deploy all of them seeing one to another, or in CZ, so, if some die, at least the others could face to the thread.

If you feel more confortable playing netrod do it the list will work with both options :)

One error in thinking I had, I thought the rebot was the sniffer, rather than seeing the sniffer as a deployable.

Yeah, not sure where I got it from.

I did see how that interplay worked, but curious how often this actually comes up?

I like the idea of ALEPH, but I haven't played anything yet, just forming ideas of what I'm looking for. I got the ALEPH reinforcement pack with Defiance for instance, but that means I don't even get all my Dakini's or the two bots until like Nov! Gamenerdz doesn't even stock probots, and why is the Karkata packaged with the Danavas instead of the Marut?

So yeah, just figuring out how some of the stuff works together and what I need to buy.

Minesweeper comes up in less than 10% of my games. Against nomads, who have the only attack remote with minesweeper that I know of, it comes up more often.

Ok. If you haven't play aleph yet, them go for the Netrod, you will haven't to think too much about tokens use. And perhaps you could change something, because in vainilla you can only align 2 nagas instead of three. And sadly you can't play the good Andromeda profiles... If you play vainilla, of course. If it is the case, them you could use some as:
