Hello everyone, I'm trying to figure out a setup that includes the Beyond Coldfront models for people who pounced on that particular set, including the Rudras, Shakti and Apsaras. Jumper LZ is a faction unique ability and I do have a weak spot for those, so I want to make that work somehow. I think it goes without saying that this is a fun concept and by no means an optimized attempt at building OSS. Anyway, here is a setup I've been contemplating: Spoiler Operations Subsection of the S.S.S. ────────────────────────────────────────────────── 5 RUDRA Red Fury, Mine Dispenser / Electric Pulse. (1 | 40) YADU Heavy Rocket Launcher, Submachine Gun / Heavy Pistol, Knife. (2 | 35) YADU (Fireteam: Haris) MULTI Rifle, E/Marat, Drop Bears (Throwing Weapon) / Heavy Pistol, Knife. (0.5 | 37) APSARA (G: Jumper Level Z) Submachine Gun / Pistol, Knife. (0 | 22) SHAKTI Lieutenant Hacker (Killer Hacking Device. UPGRADE: Sucker Punch) Mk12, E/Marat / Heavy Pistol, Knife. (0 | 40) 3.5 SWC | 174 Points Open in Infinity Army A Haris would be the "cheap" variant of this idea. Rudras Red Fury to roll 5 dice on attack. Yadu HRL for long range coverage. Still a heavy investment at 112 points and 3.5 SWC, but very Flexible across all but the longest range bands with various ammo types, mines, drop bears and a DTW. Climbing Plus and the high MOV on the Rudras allows for some unorthodox attack vectors and throwing two mines down in one order can help set up a defensive perimeter. Now, the Apsaras was part of the whole premise, so it has to be included. Jumper LZ on the Rudras in a Haris does provide a useful +1 BS for shooting and +2 WP for resisting hackers, while the +8 CC doesn't do anything (Electric Pulse). Assisted Fire still seems more useful with effectively +3 BS against enemies in cover, but the Rudras will be able to circumvent partial cover mods more easily than, say, a Dakini would. Shock ammo is also redundant on the Red Fury, so Jumper LZ feels like a valid option here. Having Shakti closeby is somewhat of a wild idea as well. KHD with Sucker Punch will deter hacking attempts on the Rudra and she can reform the Haris after the HRL goes down on ARO duty. She can also user her LT order to go into Cybermask state. Now, with this core setup established, where does that leave us in terms of building a list? Here's what I figured: Spoiler Operations Subsection of the S.S.S. ────────────────────────────────────────────────── 11 SHAKTI Lieutenant Hacker (Killer Hacking Device. UPGRADE: Sucker Punch) Mk12, E/Marat / Heavy Pistol, Knife. (0 | 40) SHUKRA (Chain of Command) Boarding Shotgun, Nanopulser / Pistol, Knife. (0 | 25) APSARA (G: Jumper Level Z) Submachine Gun / Pistol, Knife. (0 | 22) RUDRA Red Fury, Mine Dispenser / Electric Pulse. (1 | 40) YADU Heavy Rocket Launcher, Submachine Gun / Heavy Pistol, Knife. (2 | 35) YADU (Fireteam: Haris) MULTI Rifle, E/Marat, Drop Bears (Throwing Weapon) / Heavy Pistol, Knife. (0.5 | 37) PROXY Mk.1 Engineer Combi Rifle, Nanopulser, D-Charges / Pistol, Knife. (0 | 10) YUDBOT Electric Pulse. (0 | 3) YUDBOT Electric Pulse. (0 | 3) PROXY Mk.5 (Forward Observer) 2 Submachine Guns, Nanopulser, E/M Grenades / Pistol, Knife. (0 | 10) PROXY Mk.2 MULTI Sniper Rifle, Nanopulser / Pistol, Knife. (1.5 | 24) NETROD . (0 | 4) DALETH Rebot Combi Rifle, Sniffer / Electric Pulse. (0 | 17) PROBOT (Minesweeper, Repeater) Electric Pulse. (0 | 8) GARUDA Tacbot Boarding Shotgun / Electric Pulse. (0 | 21) 5 SWC | 299 Points Open in Infinity Army - Shukra CoC, to mitigate LoL. - Post Humans are basically a must take, especially considering how expensive our core setup is: - Mk.1 Engineer to keep the Rudras up and running (rolling?) + 2 YudBots to cover a wider area. - Mk.2 MSR as another solid ARO piece. I guess we all know why she is so good. - Mk.5 FO for additional flexibility and specialist presence in the midfield. - Netrod for the cheap order Jumper backup. - Sensor Bot to better contest camo markers. We have no MSV in this list, so this seems obligatory. - Probot Bagge to fill up the Rudras Mines. Could be switched out for a Lamedh to expand sniffer coverage instead. - Garuda BSG to exploit any holes in the opponent's defense. Let me know what you think. Suggestions are always welcome!
i had fun running harris with a shakti and an asura with a mix of firepower, to overcome various situations SHAKTI Hacker (Killer Hacking Device. UPGRADE: Sucker Punch) Mk12, E/Marat / Heavy Pistol, Knife. (0 | 40) ASURA Spitfire, Nanopulser / Pistol, AP CCW. (2 | 70) RUDRA MULTI Rifle, Mine Dispenser / Electric Pulse. (0 | 39) Open in Infinity Army
why not add an ingeneer?. remember that cannot run jumper Z and assited fire at same time, where i think assieted is superior. rudras only benefits +1 to bs and +2 wip. apsaras presence improves dakinis-core more Operations Subsection of the S.S.S. ────────────────────────────────────────────────── 3 RUDRA Red Fury, Mine Dispenser / Electric Pulse. (1 | 40) SHAKTI Hacker (Killer Hacking Device. UPGRADE: Sucker Punch) Mk12, E/Marat / Heavy Pistol, Knife. (0 | 40) TRISHA Breaker Combi Rifle, Nanopulser, D-Charges, E/Mauler / Pistol, Knife. (0 | 27) 1 SWC | 107 Points Open in Infinity Army or maybe removing a hackeable one from haris and add other weapons options Operations Subsection of the S.S.S. ────────────────────────────────────────────────── 3 RUDRA Red Fury, Mine Dispenser / Electric Pulse. (1 | 40) TRISHA Breaker Combi Rifle, Nanopulser, D-Charges, E/Mauler / Pistol, Knife. (0 | 27) YADU (Fireteam: Haris) MULTI Rifle, E/Marat, Drop Bears (Throwing Weapon) / Heavy Pistol, Knife. (0.5 | 37) 1.5 SWC | 104 Points Open in Infinity Army
@Doppelgganger: Great stuff, I totally missed Trisha being able to double as a Deva. This opens up a lot of possibilities and opens the Doctor loadout on the Mk.1 Posthuman. I know Assisted Fire looks better on paper, but I wanted to make the Apsaras work in conjunction with the Rudras. A lot of newer players will get Beyond Coldfront as a cheap entry into OSS and this is an attempt of leveraging that particular synergy. @dhellfox: Asura would help solve a lot of issues and put some oomph into the link, but that's a lot of points. It's definitely a flavourful option, though.
I used Shakti and the Rudras in a Harris pretty regularly, before lockdowns, but didn't run the apsara much. As Doppelgganger says, adding Trisha makes that a really good harris, brings the Engineer to repair the Rudras along with the fireteam, and Trisha isn't bad in a firefight either, bringing breaker and Emaulers. I do usually run the K1 Rudras, as I find myself in need of more anti-armor than more shots (and Shakti in a Harris is a 0SWC HMG). If you want the Apsara to boost a full fireteam, as JumperZ seems intended, adding the Samekh FTO to the Harris of Shakti & Rudras gives you two units to boost before you have to spend an order transferring the apsara jumper. It also gives a long range option to a group that can struggle over 24". Of course, this may change in N4, as the updated version of JumperZ as RemDriver in C1 seems to only boost a single unit, but provides consistent stat boosts, making it more useful for a single rem Rudras. I actually don't like the Asura in the Harris with Shakti & Rudras, as it makes it an "all the eggs in one basket" link. I've found it's been better for me to run the Asura Spitfire separate from the Harris, as it gives me two bully units. If one gets held up by a nasty ARO or bad luck, the other can usually still swing in to do the job.
