Hi all, In the wiki (http://infinitythewiki.com/en/Initiative_and_Deployment) but also in the N3 rulebook it says that one player keeps initiative, and one keeps deployment. It then continues with "Keeping Initiative", followed by "Keeping Deployment". Further down it says "once the Initiative and Deployment have been chosen", in the same order. While the order in which keeping initiative (choosing who goes first) and keeping deployment (choosing who deploys first and where) is never explicitly expressed, I assumed that "keeping initiative" is done first, followed by "keeping deployment". I've just been watching the V Interplanetario Tournament Final: Odez vs Utsuro, and there it seems that whoever wins the initiative roll chooses keeping initiative/keeping deployment and immediately performs it. Specifically this part: Now I am confused. What is the exact procedure, and is it written more clearly somewhere? Many thanks in advance for any help
If you win and choose to keeping deployment, then you perform what is written under keeping deployment : you chose who deploys firsts and in which zone. But if you choose to keeping initiative, then you follow what is asked under the keeping initiative heading. Then the other player is stuck with keeping initiative or keeping deployment and will follow what the appropriate heading asks of him.
Thanks, @Robock – that helps a lot! I think if "The winner of the Initiative Roll can choose between keeping Deployment and keeping Initiative." would have "and immediately performs it." appended, then I'd not have had this confusion. (I don't think I can suggest in in the Wiki…?)
I'm sure this was part of an FAQ at some point. In either case, the wiki is not a wiki, it's a rulesbook. All that's allowed on the "wiki" is official rules as written in Corvus Belli's documents.
