Now that I have your attention, allow me to say that I always have been interested in Infinity. The few that play at the closest store have been friendly and plus, a Christmas sale plus impulse mentality gave me the push to go ahead and buy the set Operation: Icestorm. It took a few days to build the minis that look FANTASTIC! Just wish there were instructions to help in the building phase and now onto painting. I wish to paint them as close to the established schemes as possible but finding artwork is hard and the studio painted minis seem off from the concept art and box cover. I wish to have the concept art for the figures in Operation: Icestorm so that I may paint my figures as loyal and close to the establushed lore as possible.
You're kinda right, actually. They are a lot more blue in the artwork (I'm assuming we're talking about the PanO). What i would do is start with a base of Magic Blue, and edge highlight with a 1:1 mix of magic blue and electric blue, then give it a splash of blue wash. That should give you the colour you're looking for. For the Nomads, I'd do a base of Scarlet red and highlight with blood red, and give it a splash of red wash. I don't really know how proficient you are in painting, but that's how i'd explain it to someone just starting out. If you need more help, just post here or pm me, and I'll go through it with you in a bit more detail.
Sorry for the double post. I knew i had these pictures around somewhere. These are the fusiliers from my original Operation Icestorm box.. please don't judge.. they were painted like 3 years ago. I know the scheme isn't canon, but That blue you're looking at is pretty much exactly what the blue is in the artwork, i believe - which is the formula i described (magic blue, with a highlight of 1:1 magic blue and electric blue, and then hit with a blue wash).
2nd book? I am like uber new to Infinity. The concept art exists in books? Cool. Is USAriadna covered as well? Me and a friend who play Dust1947 a lot have expanded our gaming to include Infinity. The starter appealed to me the most as a 2 player starter and got it. As someone who paints for commission, I am the primary painter and am stuck on how to go about painting the figures without a detailed guide. I also play Relic Knights and established a multi step guide on how to oaint the figures I have to be as close to the artwork as possible and done so. Now I wish to do so with Infinity starting with the minis in Mission 1. The rulebook is not on hand at the moment and not gonna attempt to type whoever the NOMADS main infantry are.
Nah, unfortunately the Giraldez books do not include any concept art. They are just detailed tutorials on how to paint most of studio colour schemes for Infinity, which as you already mentioned, you are not too interested in. There are also some interesting techniques and Giraldez' thoughts on approaching mini painting in there, but I do not know what your skills are and if it would be of any help at all. The biggest draw to the books were actually limited miniatures attached to the first prints.
Don't agree. People got the books with the ambition of getting Angel's secrets to getting those wonderful paintjobs. People were really expectant because of that, the minis were just the awesome cherry on top. Also i'd say that there is information people on any level can use from those books, it's just that Angel in general aims at people with experience and therefore most of it tends to assume that. In fact, the second book was much better at giving basics than the first one, probably after extensive feedback about it.
Here are the concept art dossiers. They are the only thing which CB releases. As you have noted Angel sometimes deviates from it. I'd suggest saving the images to your hard drive. Some are from sources that may not be around much longer. Alguaciles:male female Spektr: Grenzer: Mobile Brigada: Reverend Healer: Fusiliers:male female O.R.C.s: and Varuna O.R.C ] Akalis: Nisses: Father-Knight: CSU:(if you have it) I have no idea if you have these or not. This is about as good as one can get to the established art.
Huh. Started to write down a painting guide and the Alguaciles (Thanks command+c and command+v) and found out that the male and female have portions that differ. I imagine that in a real-world setting, they would be matching to ease production and such. Oh, this is gonna be interesting. Thank goodness Panoceania Fusiliers match more. As of now, I have a back-log of commissions to take care of first before I have time to start painting these up thus more time to figure out just how I am gonna paint the Fusiliers for Mission 1.
Unfortunately, all I have is a Facebook page. Look up The Officer Factory. I will have to update the page soon with latest progress and works.
