Hey guys, having good fun with season 9 missions with Onyx, but one thing that tends to be hard is the selection of a Data Tracker. The fact that it can't be on a model that starts off the table or be in a marker state of any kind mainly - these are the sorts of things we rely on to get our toys in the right place.
In a list with a Sphinx and a Legate HD+ (like the one im testing now), neither can be the data tracker unless they're gonna remain out in the open and never hide - kinda goes against the point, right?

So just curious what kind of data trackers people are using, and what their experiences have been.

Legate Spitfire is a good all around choice.

I think my favorite for hunting are the Xeos. The Overdron is a solid defensive Datatracker.

My lists typically include two nexus operatives; one hacker and one specialist. The latter makes a serviceable datatracker for general use. Upgrade him to a legate with DACCW for Looting and Sabotaging and possibly, but not necessarily, The Grid.

It largely depends on what the DT has to do and what I'm playing against, the but the Legate, Nexus and Bit have all been used by me before.

Deppend, for a strong datatracker to kill things: samaitan spitfire or hacker, xeodrons, overdrons or Suryats ( they work well with duo hmg+ vulkan datatracker).

To deffensive datatracker to be hidden, maybe a linked nexus. But i still prefer a strong datatracker i most situations ( i'm not confident enought to make a linked leutinent datatracker xD).

Leaving out all troops that are out of the table because AD, HD or marker state, the best option is a Legate non-hacker, but a Legate hacker can be interesting too (it has a Flash Pulse for long range after all) if you need the datatracker to be a specialist. This is, however, because of the NWI and Mimetism, if you face an enemy that can ignore those (templates, MSV, shock...) then your best bet is a "cheap" Xeodron.

The best one for a "come to kill me" datatracker would be the Nexus FO near a Unidron's Fireteam, so you can add him inside once it has lost a member, since the Overdron can be hunted with more ease by enemy AD troops.

Overdron or Xeodron for me. But reinforced with bit&kiss or nexus with nullifier.
