Every objective room I've seen had been a perfect 8"x8" square, with four evenly spaced doors, and nothing on the inside except for the objectives specified in the scenario. How much of that is actually required by the rules? Does it have to be exactly 8x8? Can it be smaller? Bigger? Does it have to be a perfect square? Does the interior have to be empty?
To copy/paste the description of the Objective Room in the ITS Season 10 document: In this scenario the Objective Room is considered a Zone of Operations (ZO). Placed in the center of the table, it covers an area of 8 by 8 inches. In game terms it is considered to have walls of infinite height that completely block Line of Fire. To represent the Objective Room, we recommend using the Objective Room by Micro Art Studio, the Operations Room by Plastcraft or the Command Bunker by Warsenal or the Panic Room by Customeeple. The interior of the Objective Room is a Saturation Zone. The Objective Room has four Gates, one in the middle of each wall (See map below). The Objective Room Gates must be represented by a Narrow Gate Marker or a scenery piece with the same size. The Objective Room Gates have a Narrow Gate Width. The Gates of the Objective Room are open at the start of the game. That's why you see 8"x8" squares with four evenly spaced doors. In the Season 10 document, the same style building is used for the Armory, but the difference is that two structures are placed in the armory for panolopies.
There are no rules about the room being empty of scatter terrain, in our area everyone usually places some terrain inside.
Does it not meet the letter? The rules Solkan listed never said it had to be a square. One of the examples listed (Command Bunker by Warsenal) is of an irregular shape. That's good to know. Terrain on the inside would really change the fighting on the inside, especially if LoF from one door to another is blocked.
there must be four door, one in the middle of each wall. Therefore if there is 5 walls there must be a door in the middle of each of the 5 walls ("in the middle of each wall" by the letter). so it could be any other non-square shape that has 4 walls. (like, a pentagon could work if two line segment combined to make a long curved wall, then you'd have 4 wall where you can place the 4 door in their centers)
we have it at the club and that thing is huge. double-checked product dimension on their website it is 12" (including the stairs). The roof is 8.5"x9.5" (never noticed it being not square, might be an error on the product page). So the building interior is probably close to correct dimensions.
It also doesn't exactly state how to place it, just where. (ignoring the map pictures since those are already a bit unreliable on actual proportions) Setting it at an a angle makes it play a lot differently. Also the old Top Down Terrain (now Broken Token one has interior walls built into it.
TT Combat's one is a little small, the exterior with buttresses measures 8" but the inside is closer to 7" across.
