Hi, everyone :) I don't usually post but I want to make publish this as it may result in a wrong sculpt for a very iconic character. As it is mentioned in its Infinity/C1 troop profile and also in the fluff, Nourkias is an Umbra Samaritan, take a look at the Tagline pdf from ITS 8: Spanish: https://assets.infinitythegame.net/downloads/its-event/tagline/es/v1.0.1/tagline.pdf English: https://assets.infinitythegame.net/downloads/its-event/tagline/en/v1.0.1/tagline.pdf Nevertheless, the sculpt for this character that was shown yesterday is the one of an Umbra Legates! The problem is that it's not an easy fix by stating "Let's say it's an Umbra Legates", because it's already in the fluff. Make sure to take a look at the shoulderpads, the armbands, the long belt, the pants and the hood itself: Umbra Samaritan concept in the Seminar video: Nourkias sculpt in the Seminar video: Please, help me give some visibility to this topic so they don't get it wrong before production! Thank you :)
But what we have seen of Umbra is that they are variable in they appearance. The three legate sculpts to date are very different from each other.
The shoulderpads, armbands, belt and pants are the same (or clearly very similar) in all the Legates sculpts.
As far as I know (within my ignorance), Betrayal happens in N4, which happens 5 years later at least in the fluff.
Betrayal tells the story of Ko Dali leaving Yu Jing and joining the CombArmy, which is a playable scenario in the Paradiso Crossroads campaign set 5-10 years before N4. It might still be set in the N4 timeline, but with Nourkias appearing in flashbacks to her capture/conversion.
Also I believe what was shown was the aristeia character pack. And what we have seen so far is that the Aristeia Characters look very different from the Infinity sculpts.
Thanks for the knowledge :) Nevertheless, I wouldn't like to deviate from the main topic of Nourkias' sculpt.
Ok, I'm just guessing here about it... But, seeing that adil is not wearing the armor he's suposed to... Maybe some of the action in the comic takes place in the past and nourkias was a legate at that point in time
The Nourikas render does look like it has the legate's belt, shoulders, gauntlets, and sword. However, I'm happy to have anything that's labeled "Samaritan" and doesn't constantly fall over. I actually put the Samartian arms onto the Hacker body because I got tired of dealing with the ridiculous body that the model comes with.
When I first saw the sculpt there was something that didn't stick with me, but I wasn't able to identify it until now... as you said, those elements are the common ones in the other Legates minis. I'm happy for the same reason as you xDDD But the little kid inside me would be extremely happy if it'd be an actual Samaritan sculpt. P.S.: I do use your website for markers a lot! Thanks for it! :)
Frankly, I don't see an issue. We have a single rendition of an Umbra Samaritan to go off (okay, maybe two if we factor in the concept artwork for the same character), and nothing to indicate that this is representative of all Samaritans everywhere. What is to say that the armour this new character is wearing is "Legate" armour when it could just as well be "Umbra" armour worn by differently coded Umbra operatives.
While I recognize the effort of giving this sculpt a valid situation, that's not what we've seen usually so far in CB, hence what we they got their public used to: the sculpts match the concept and any minor change in one sculpt goes for the other sculpts as well. Plus, I don't remember if there's such a thing of "armor code" between Umbras mentioned in the fluff, as for example in the Invincible Army. In any case, I would like to see the outcome of this, whether it's a new Umbra Samaritan sculpt (which I'd love!) or an explanation for a titled Umbra Samaritan wearing an apparently Umbra Legates armor. Thanks for posting :)
Finished it, it's N3 current day, no comment is made about Nourkias having special armor or anything, so I guess we assume that individual Umbra can take what they want and are not bound by a dress code.
