Hello all. So I’ve been dreaming of a HI guard profile for any faction really. I think this addition is really cool and unique. However, the non Lt option feels really disappointing. If I’m investing the points it’s going to likely be the Lt for that +1 order along with all the other goodies. I think it could’ve been really cool to give the regular version something different to make you want to still use that profile. Like FD +8” and SO to be a kind of counter andromeda profile. Or something like that, that makes it still feel good to use for a different reason. Overall still a really cool design and love the art. Looking forward to the mini. What do you all think?
The non-Lt. was used against me just last week. My opponent was actually pretty aggressive with it too. He moved it all the way up to my DZ. It made me bring out my Bashi with E/M mines where I didn't want to go to try to deal with it. Eventually he killed the bashi (with CC Guard) but I was able to kill it later. I actually did think at first it was the Lt. but with how aggressive he was with it, decided it wasn't. I had a CC heavy White Banner list and it was actually him that killed more in CC than I.
Well that’s awesome! I guess I’m always worried about using shotguns from deployment zone if they’re not linked as a move up piece. But hey, sounds like it can work if the tables right and you’re smart with your movement. Thanks for the insight. I want to love it. And it has some really interesting aspects. So that’s encouraging.
At the risk of stating the obvious: The Lt. And non-Lt. versions are identical so that opponents doubt whether spending orders assassinating it are worthwhile or not. The idea is to play headgames by sometimes using it as Lt., sometimes not. When not, you can sucker a Speculo or Fiday into a trap (and the model can defend itself decently). Having the non-Lt. profile be different would defeat that purpose.
I get that as a tactic. My main issue with that is that while it’s new right now, so many aren’t use to it, after a while all they will need to do is check the order pool for 1 or 2 Lt orders to know if it’s the Lt or not. If that’s the head game we’re supposed to be using it’d almost be better to have a different command skill that’s not so obvious to set it apart. I’m not saying that’s not a valid way to play it though.
Except if they're going first so you haven't done an order count for them to see your order pool yet, which is when they'd mostly be going for a decapitation alpha. Some sort of skill that makes it more likely to be taken as a non Lt (like specialist operative) wouldn't hurt though. Or Holo rather than Decoy and two different profiles.
Very good point. I forgot how that would affect things if you haven’t done your order count yet. Yeah that’s all I was saying is, it’s not that there aren’t uses for it as is with both loadouts. It’s just almost what I wanted. Selfish thinking. That’s all. I want to WANT to use it all the time even if it’s not my Lt. And if it’s not it’s the Lt it will be situational as to it’s usefulness for its cost.
