so what's everyone thoughts on it?
full auto flamers adhesive sounds appealing.
Your wasting points on the Kinimatica and Hyper-Dynamics, because TAGS are -6 to dodge, -3 due to Hyper Dynamic; you might as well just shoot instead of dodge. The armor and biosheild stats are mediocre for a TAG. CC 23 is awesome, but it should be like O-Yoroi and have some form of Martial Arts and a better CC weapon. Full auto level 1 is good, which makes all it's weapon even better, and it has great weapons all ready. It is really weak to a good hacker or Breaker weapon, but is strong against War Bands.
I dislike it because of the points wasted and its mediocre armour, but that is my opinion.
The PH, armor and BTS are ok for its silhouette value: S6 . A smaller frame will make it easier to hide. That being said I agree it's pretty mediocre, such a TAG should have had an unique gimmick like Holo 2. Anyway, it will see play, sometimes when we really need a TAG based on two factors:
- Guijia is useless in WB
- Blue Wolf has duo, which means it can carry along a wildcard like a ShangJi tinbot B for hacking protection or better yet a Tian Guo jammer for maximum trolling.
Full Auto won't affect the flamethrower as it only affects weapons that use the BS Attribute.
i derped, but still slap a baggage bot next to it and you have adhesive spam at a decent range
Also the dodge on 12 might come in handy against attacking (TO)Camo or the good old smoke trick. Giving you a realistic chance on getting out of the way. The B5 AP Spitfire also is a real good armour cracker. I am really looking forward to the model (and hope they make an awesome one like the Guija:)).
FA doesn't work with DTWs, but with Akrylat Kanone - no problems.
From my PoV as a PanO player - this is a very nice package, conceptually similar to Seraph. It's designed to quickly close the distance and dominate CQB firefights. It's main competition within WBA are Daofei and Jujak - both able to get into similar distances quickly, but less durable and slower - and Guijia, which is a better long range firebase.
Offensive capabilities: AP Spitfire with BS 14 and Full Auto behind it is a very respectable main weapon, especially since AP ammo is probably about to get more valuable in N4. HFT is a standard TAG backup weapon, nothing surprising. Akrylat Kanone with FA sounds to me like a setup designed to take a single shot against a target of opportunity as you try to close in, one that's between 24-32". It also makes for a good ARO weapon against elite HIs and TAGs, even though it can't take advantage of FA in reactive.
CC capabilities are mainly a tax; let's be honest, no one will push this thing into CC when he can just shoot the target. One thing it does is discouraging warbands from trying to tie it up in CC for the whole game.
Defensively it gets a standard ARM/BTS values of the S6 TAGs, while Hyper-Dynamics helps it to dodge dangerous templates - against standard shooting or things like Chain Rifle you might prefer to shoot back, but increasing number of DTWs with E/M or Adhesive ammo makes any boost to TAG dodging a useful one.
Keep in mind that we don't know how N4 will play with various strengths and weaknesses. We know that high ARM/BTS will be more useful, and, logically so will weapons designed to bypass them. Aside from that - it's hard to predict how this balance will look like, especially since some skills might be missing from N3 versions of SWF and WBA, and some of the current ones might disappear or get exchanged for new ones.
You can, but there's no reason to keep it at long range, not with its main weapon being better suited to shorter distance. If you want a long range firefight you're better off with Guijia.
I don't buy into this line of thinking on either side. Nobody goes into a game planning on critting the shit out of big targets, nor do they go into the game building a list with the fear of getting the shit crit out of them. They're not common enough to be building lists around them for either offensive or defensive reasons.
The crit mechanic change is one for the better but I do not believe it drastically changes the value in different unit choices to the point there is a major shift in the meta.
I actually like it very much. Burst5 and BS14 will hurt. Closing that rangeband gap should be no problem. CC23 and DA CC means it can shoot its way through to the enemy DZ and then melee that scenery item to death. I think it will be easier to support it in Vanilla, but WB should also be capable of.
I like the Blue Wolf TAG! I wished for something Gecko Style with a special gimmick (mimetism is the new blue in this times) that can hunt in packs but we have this profile and - though it is more expensive than the Guijia - it is a very useful TAG that can go for bigger prey with its B5 AP Spitfire. He can defend himself in long range ARO, CC, CQB or at least with a decent dodge at 12. Smaller than the big brother but expensive enough to build a List around him. The high burst and the smaller size sets him apart from the Guijia. I still hope our old Main-Battle-TAG will see an rework in N4.
That's still ph12, and it's very easy to knock chunks off that bs14, even with the extra cover of the akrylat-kanone, eg a sniper in cover with mimitism, and even with full auto, you still only get one target for ARO, so a coordinated order of something like daylami panzerfausts would make that 12 seem much better than playing the ods against 3 normal rolls...
Just wish it got stealth...
Overall, the core kit is interesting, but I think the duo options will really make it.
a very good TAG as a Pano player who play TAG mostly, not better than cutter or tik but really better than an regular TAG like dragao, his gun is a monstrosity
I really don't know about it! I keep going back and forth on liking it and not. I really don't like spending as much as a Guijia (more) and have less ARM. I was hoping for a cheaper, smaller TAG, not more expensive! Full Auto is okay but Hyper Dynamics? When the hell are you really going t use it when you can just shoot?! Especially if you are in +3 range. Also, I can't see getting into CC with it. Especially without martial Arts.
To be fair, "cheaper, smaller TAG" just means one of our premium HI =P
And I like the high CC. It makes it much harder to tie up in CC with some chump, and also gives us a great option for L&S.
Before I start talking about it, wanna just dump the obligatory ''I'm stupid enough to make a list with one and a Guijia together or bring a list where 50%-75% of spent points are HI/TAGs'' disclaimer.
FA1 is pretty amazing as it lets you try and brute-force less than superb rolls odds by the sheer volume of dice. Plus being able to do the equivalent of firing what is essentially a double-barrel Akryllat shotgun is fun.
The ARM/BTS is low for a unit of its cost, but it'll become marginally more useful next edition at the least, plus it's decent either way. Plus it's not like Yu Jing ant it's sectorials have an ungodly amount of ways to buff hacking defenses ( Competent hackers of both the Killer and regular varieties, TinBot Wildcards, that sort of stuff. ). That, and the Hyperdynamics helps with DTWs, and seeing as shotguns are pretty likely to gain DTW profiles... neato. T:
Kinematika seems largely useless, but it would be hilarious if you could ever manage to dodge into cover with this thing.
It gives you an excuse to play Mongolian rock if you do really good with it in a game.
And the CC benefits are kinda weird... not much of a way to enter melee outside of literately ramming yourself at the enemy. This is something I'd do, but then again, I'm the kind of guy who brings a brick to a tactical black ops mission with the express purpose of bashing someone's head in with it, so my approaches aren't smart...
Really, I'd say it's best upsides and downsides are the fact it's a Yu Jing TAG:
The upside in the sense that YJ and WBA both have some really great tools for supporting TAGs.
And downside because it's fighting for a place in a list with our genuinely exhaustive amount of different colored bricks to bash the enemy over the head with...
TL;DR It's a nice beating brick and subtlety is overrated.
Yeah, unless something else changes, the meta won't suddenly bend over backward due to this change.
But it is a change in benefit of units like the Blue Wolf, so it's still technically a net gain.
Which don't count in missions you really need a TAG. I can't see doing a Duo with another especially, if it was the price of a Gecko or Xeodron, then maybe. I'd try a Duo with a Shang Ji Tinbot B though!
Don't they ever do comparisons to their own stuff? A Tikblang has almost the same stats but has mimetisim and is cheaper! I'd rather an HMG over AP spitfire, mines, Remote presence, etc.
It feels to me the CC was "well lets make him more expensive, so lets add a CC23 that will hardly be used." I'm mean it's like the just didn't want to carry it out. they give him a high CC but only a DA CCW? At least AP+DA would have helped.
One great positive is that I found my old Guijia is perfect for a Blue Wolf. It's just a couple mm taller than 55mm. Size 6 is 40x55mm. I had already cut down the HMG. So this should work well.
Are the bases the same, though? I don't remember.
