    Hey Infinity people,

I’m going to be a new player in London very soon but just looking for a bit of advice on what to buy for VIRD/Varuna?

got about £250 to spend and have a Cutter already.... but couldn’t post on the faction specific area so thought I would try here...

Just wanted to know what the core stuff to buy is?

    Thanks for your help!

Welcome to the boards, and Infinity.

Well, the starter is a pretty good place to start. As the name suggests. The Kamau Sniper is a keystone piece, the Zulu Cobra is a solid attacker, and the rest of the contents are decent but not essential options.

Fusiliers are also very useful, you can get the standard ones in the Vanilla PanO starter along with and ORC trooper. The Nisse and Akal in this box aren't technically Varuna troopers but can be useful as proxies. There's also the Fusilier box that contains the heavy weapons and Hacker.

A Helots box is an excellent buy as they're fantastic defensive units.

Zulu Cobras are Varuna workhorses so never a bad option.

Echo Bravo are really great (though you can use the Akal from the PanO starter as a proxy)

Patsy isn't an every list staple but opens up some useful options.

Croc Men are great, but not necessarily an "every list" choice again.

The ORC box is alright, but between the two starters the only one you'd really use is the HMG. Probably hold off on this one.

Dronbots and the Support box are always useful but there have been hints they be resculpted this year with the release of Code One and N4.

Bulleteer and Peacemaker remotes are nice list fillers and a solid addition to any PanO list.

Mulebots aren't as useful in Varuna as the other PanO factions IMO.

Richard Quinn from the Dire Foes box is neat but not essential, probably worth it if you can find a Nomad player who wants the other half. The HVT model is rather nice.

Apparently the Cutter is, but you've already got that .

There will be a bunch of new PanO stuff when Operation Kaldstrøm comes out in March/April, it's possible that will include new Fusiliers, but we don't know for sure yet. Most releases will probably be geared towards the new Svalarheiman sectorial that's coming this year though.

Varuna specific stuff is all really new, apart from the Cutter and previously mentioned drones/support, so I wouldn't expect resculpts any time soon.

Oh, there's the Squalo too, a neat TAG with a different niche and role compared to the Cutter, you can always proxy one TAG as the other though due to them both being 55mm bases so not an essential purchase.

If the new sectorial crosses into MO a little, I’ll probably end up buying it too... love the Pan-O vibe. Thanks again

The Knights Hospitaller are based on the planet of Svalarheima so there's a good chance they'll show up in the new Sectorial.

The Nisse and Jotum that are currently Vanilla only will be in there too.

    Hello,

I think @colbrook cover perfectly the question you made.

As a Pano player (sometimes) if a wish to start Varuna from cero and only making a "wish list":

    1. Varuna Starter.
    2. Zulu Girl or Zulu Jammer (blister)
    3. Helots (box)
    4. Echo Bravo with Wildparrot. (blister)
    5. Special Weapon Fusiliers (box)

Those I think are the esential things to buy and don't pass the money threshold.

Later you could buy fusiliers, or the "painting box + FO Fusilier" or the latest direfoes (or the single model from anyone who has the direfoes)

    6. Support Pack (machinist + trauma + palbots)
    7. Dron bots (box with pathfinder, hmg total reaction, etc).
    8. Varuna Girl Hacker (blister)
    9. Bulleteers (box)
    10. Zulu Cobra (jammer) or (girl) (blister)
    11. Peacemaker. (box)
    12. Squalo. (squalo)
    13. Crocmen Snipper or Boarding Shotgun. (blister)
    14. Mulebots (box)
    15. Patsi. (blister)
    16. Orcs Box (box)
    17. Echo Bravo LRL light rocket launcher. (blister).

I think I just posted all the miniatures we have now for Varuna, but the numbers are my order choice to buy.

    Best regards.

Hi, I hope you found some of us on the Facebook group HATE "Hackney are tabletop enthusiast" we have a very active group playing on Wednesday and Sunday near Bethnal Green.
We have a bunch of people who are very willing to introduce you to the game.

I think people covered the purchase pretty exhaustively.
