While still not exactly cheap, this guy has received a few new goodies:

    - NCO
    - Deployable Repeater
    - Heavy Shotgun
    - Deactivator + Gizmokit

Do you reckon you will use him more often now?

I can see myself picking him in conjunction with one or even two Long Ya. They can both start upfield and Kokram can place a repeater next to the Long Ya to allow your EVO to use supportware on them.

Going second, Krit also looks like a nice roadblock. Against hackable targets, place a repeater.
Against non-hackable targets, consider an E/M mine instead. If you brought a Guilang BSG, you could even place both in critical spots.

NCO synergizes nicely with the Daoying Hacker LT, so that's very much appreciated. Deactivating deployables/peripherals, repairing and attacking is now a more efficient proposition.

Yes, I'll give him a spin every so often, particularly if TAGs become a plague. He is a bit squished between Jeong and Hulang now, though. Not a face-down floating corpse, but certainly squished.

The NCO and weapon options make him a contender with Tai in IA links now. You can do an interesting Haris with a ShanJi APHMG that can also bring another specialist (like a HaiDao, or LeiGong CoC).

I actually think Jeong will cut his grass in a core link by virtue of being cheaper and an unhackable repeater. With a KHD outside the link this will help sanitise the midfield of hackers.

I am considering him for more esoteric links, like TA zuyong tinbot, Yanhuo FTO (whatever that is) and Krit MULTI rifle

I like new Krit as a midfield hunter. HSG lets him eat squishy infiltrators, and having a deployable repeater is awesome.

Jeong will definitely be taking Krit's slot in my fireteams as minelayer/engineer, and being an unhackable repeater/unbrickable engineer is fantastic.

I think the latest list I played with IA that I was satisfied with and contained a Guijia could be cheap enough to just straight up add the new Krit and dump him in a Duo with the Guijia. May need to downgrade the Daoying to plain BSG, though.

25 points saved and made the list heavier. Sure, I'd play that, but it's got a few issues with Hacking and if you want to defend yourself against as much as possible, 9 of your 10 models need to be real close to the enemy. I think for this particular list, Tai Sheng is a bit more interesting for the Guijia to give it a Firewall and possibly replace the Haidao Engineer with Jeong to accomany the Mowang. Jeong isn't as strong in combat as the Haidao, but I like the idea of bringing those armour piercing mines. Sadly Adil is not available to IA because I'd have loved Adil's Sensor, plus Adil is a lot better in combat than both Engineer IMO.

I'm actually a little surprised Adil wasn't added to IA because of Betrayal. I think he'd be an interesting wildcard (adding CC and sensor) and it makes as much sense fluffwise as Gao in WBA.

So after a few months of N4, has your perspective changed on Kokram?

I am positively surprised on how effective he turned out to be in my games, mostly playing vanilla YJ.
Between Kokram, Long Ya, Kanren and Guilang, I always feel I have a rock solid midfield anchor to play around. When going second, Kanren can holomask and put 4 Kokrams on the table, which is a nice assassination deterrent. If you take the minelayer + shock mine profile, you can even keep up that shell game while placing your mines.

Long Ya and Kokram have obvious synergies and seem like a perfect match. If you can squeeze a Yaozao into your list, you have a prime Engineer that is also an NCO to siphon off those Daoying LT2 orders. Being able to place a repeater next to a Long Ya is another plus if you bring your EVO Panggu. Enhanced reaction for a B2 panzerfaust ARO or Assisted Fire for a B2 Flammenspeer with Marksmanship and Surprise attack turns that 17 point REM into an even better value package. Your Panggu can even fill up their ammo - it's really nice if you can pull it off.

Nope, still think he's solid. I do prefer him in links though.

I had good results with my Krit in Vanilla. This comes more or less all from his NCO and Minelayer ability. If going second, he looses a big chunk of his value, because you don't want to have a hackable target outside your DZ most of the times or a repeater will land next to his hiding place on the very first order.
I had not used the Long Ya much though, because the lack of a model stinks.

It's probably my most desired sculpt at this point.

I'm going with YJ for a German TTS tourney that requires us to shift between sectorials in our faction for every game. Solo forward Krit is going to get some play in both my IA and vanilla lists, so the recommendations here will really help. Solo Krit looks like a particularly useful element of a SML list, which I intend to use a lot in the tourney just to speed play up a bit (eats a bunch of orders but involves moving fiddly virtual pieces less).

Keeping Krit from getting isolated out there or assassinated was my main concern, but the Kanren combo is a really good idea (plus a KHD up there will be handy), thanks @Knauf for the idea. I'm also going to cover obvious approaches to him with a Hundun HRL to slow things down a bit, plus a minelayer Guilang.

He has been a linchpin unit in my IA lists lately. His FD8 profile is super powerful and gives a lot of missing midfield presence to IA. If going second I usually keep him tucked away and covered by hard AROs. You're not compelled to use the full 8" after all.

Also his base profile has Duo, so even if you aren't taking the FTO you can still give him a wildcard buddy to drag midfield. I usually prefer he have a Yaozao or two though, my IA lists are REM heavy.

He can't. Krit doesn't have Duo on his list of allowed fireteams, and he doesn't "count as" a Zuyong. He's wildcard only and can't be the progenitor for any fireteams.

That's a weird oversight. Why would he have the Duo skill if he can't form a duo link?

This is a long running thing with CB. They keep sticking fireteams on shit that can't make fireteams.

He used to be a Zuyong character and not a Wildcard. The Duo skill is probably not meant to be there but they missed removing it, although if a unit without Duo were to be marked as being able to form a Special Fireteam Duo with a unit that can in the future, then Krit's Duo skill will become useful.

It's also possible that forming Duos will change in the coming months as Fireteam rules are rumoured to be revisited quite soon.

Yeah I just assumed he could form a Duo with a wildcard rather than any Zuyong duo or whatever.

In any case, I still painted him up for later. Duo or no, he's my favourite engineer. :grinning:
