I still don't like the 'ribbed for your painting (dis)pleasure' details, but it is good to get the Haidao KHD model.
The closed hacking helmet/visor are still looking like frogs to me... But I like him enough. Not a huge fan of the green/orange theme but this one green seems better than previous IA studio models, am I wrong?
Im not a huge fan of the IA color scheme either. It's not terrible. It's just not great. So far, I like all the IA models. Le Gong is a bit odd but it's fitting for the anime style. There usually is a feminine male character in quite a few anime's. I'm really sad about the 6-2 Movement nerf. :(
So, I'm conflicted. I love the Haidao in general, and I love the look of this model. On the other hand, do we really need a third Haidao sculpt before we get a single Shang Ji resculpt (not that it would actually see time on the tabletop, but that's more to do with CB dropping the ball on the opportunity to give it a rework over anything else)? Or a Zhencha sculpt for a profile that will actually see use? Three Haidaos is a bit much when CB's designed the invincible army in a way that works counter-intuitively towards using them to their full availability, despite their profiles' toolboxes clearly being built around being used to their full availability. I mean, at least CB didn't give us the Red Fury profile. Now, that would have been a kick in the teeth. I mean, I'd still buy it, since Haidao are really freaking cool. But I'd never use it, because the damned thing doesn't fit anywhere with IA's arbitrary wildcard restrictions.
I'm using a more muted "burnt ochra" kind of orange that @the huanglong described in his blog together with a dark-blue-with-lightning-blue-highlights and it works quite well. Orange with green is good basic colour theory being diametrically opposite, but I find the large patches of green a bit jarring and the slow creep back towards high-vis vests oramge for Yu Jing a bit tragic.
IJW indicated that was likely to happen in the Lei Gong thread shortly after the initial profile preview.
I did have my hopes up just a little. The reason being is they didn't post the correction on the Kickstarter campaign like they did with berserk on Qui.
