As the topic says, I figured with the new forum I would contribute by starting a new painting thread detailing the progress of my combined army. It is fully painted, but I'm not a big fan of the scheme I originally chose for it, so I'm stripping the models and trying something new. It will be pretty slow to update, as I'm giving a couple of the local guys the option of buying my painted units in exchange for unpainted ones, as some of them really like the original scheme. So, here is the first completed unit - the avatar! Sorry for the poor pictures. I just snapped them before I went to bed last night. I'll take some better ones this evening. Let me know what you think!
First of all White balance and colours are all over the place so it is hard to decide what exacly im looking at it is honey color or red or orange ?? or sepia monochrome ?? is definitli clean but colours - u just do not know what they realy look so it is hard to comment about colour theme but keep posting maybe one photo will confirm my suspicions about colours then i will say about colour selection
@maru - yeah - new phone... new problems. I'm working out the lighting kinks and taking new photos when I have some time. @Balewolf - thanks! That's exactly what I'm going for.
Yep photos way better ok you got some composicion errors - colour contrast is betwen mini and Base - redish oranges vs Green base and a focal point is blue thingi on the base instade of red triangle on the for head contrast betwen base and mini helps to show mini unless you go for real and military look (uniforms have to meld you with surrounding instade getting you shine like a light bulb ) monohromatic contrast on mini is nice and whole thing is clean but you could improve it easy by adding a stronger red on the forhead creating a correct focal point instade one on base beside this good job - just get a this triangle a hard contrast and you got focal point and whole mini set correct
Thanks @HellLois ! This weekend I'm going to paint 3x Unidrones, an anathematics and hopefully a charontid in the same scheme (if the charontid comes in at the store).
I also have to say - I'm absolutely loving Vallejo's new Mecha Colour paints. My awesome wife bought me the complete set as an early Christmas gift, and so far they are absolutely phenomenal. I strong recommend people check them out.
Does this include the primers? If so, a review? I've been more interested in these as they advertise them as "Bonds with the plastic like it was colored from the material itself" or something like that, and good reliable primers are always welcome, specially for our metal minis that are so easy to scratch
From what I've seen in the early reviews, it seems to be use without a primer. But I too am interested in more info about this new range (not yet available nearby).
Yeah, it is like 57 paints, 11 weathering washes and effects, 5 primers and a bunch of other things. That avatar was painted mainly with the new range.
this would explain the strange look as this line is mostly satyne and it is uncomon amongst model paints - it gives this toy look effect :) o and ther is a mold line across the gun
I'll be taking some better photos later on. These are just some quick snaps before up on to bed. The anathematics is just temporary. I'll be replacing it very soon. I'll put up some better quality ones tomorrow. It's just too late to be setting up the photo booth.
ok there is one huge error on Umbra mini - wonder if you notice ?? and Red - youre minatures would look way more outstanding with way more Vibrant red - if you like i may digitaly over paint red parts im talking about and show you the effect you may get :) but beside Umbra looks good and keep solid theme
It's alright, Maru. The models are finished for all intents and purposes - digitally re-colouring then isn't going to motivate me to go back. Thanks though.
