I always used to enjoy running one of a range of mid-range combat options in my lists. Between reserves, airborne deployment and hidden deployment I could usually keep my opponent guessing what I was actually using in a given list:

HEXA MULTI Sniper Rifle / Pistol, Electric Pulse. (1.5 | 32)
    HEXA Spitfire / Pistol, Electric Pulse. (1.5 | 30)
    GARUDA Tacbot HMG / Electric Pulse. (1.5 | 30)
    GARUDA Tacbot Spitfire / Electric Pulse. (1.5 | 28)
LOCUST (Marksmanship L1) Marksman Rifle / Pistol, Shock CCW, Knife. (0 | 33)
    DEVA (Multispectral Visor L2) Spitfire, Nanopulser / Pistol, Knife. (1 | 33)

Each served a different purpose, and made for a slightly different kind of threat and keeping my opponents guessing about which I was bringing was very useful.

In terms of the Garuda specifically, I used to lean heavily into the HMG as a reserve piece to come in and exploit my opponents offensive actions and take them in the rear and as a ranged support piece which opponents can't anticipate. Obviously the Spitfire and Boarding Shotgun are different types of mobile offensive pieces, between their speed and mimetism they can be very effective in taking out units your opponent hides from the long range firepower options which NCA is justifiably known for.

Yeh its a nice idea changing it up. My opponent will expect me to have a swiss hmg so can really pull the drop on him with interchanging all these options. Suppose will be a lot of trial and error to see what works

I tend to run the Swiss HMG either way.

Something like this is the kind of base I work from:

    Neoterran Capitaline Army
    ──────────────────────────────────────────────────
    GROUP 1[IMG] [IMG] [IMG]10
FUSILIER Lieutenant Combi Rifle / Pistol, Knife. (0 | 10)
    FUSILIER Combi Rifle / Pistol, Knife. (0 | 10)
FUSILIER (Forward Observer, Deployable Repeater) Combi Rifle / Pistol, Knife. (0 | 12)
FUSILIER Hacker (Hacking Device) Combi Rifle / Pistol, Knife. (0.5 | 18)
    FUSILIER Missile Launcher / Pistol, Knife. (1.5 | 15)
CSU (Specialist Operative) Rifle + Light Shotgun, Nanopulser / Pistol, Knife. (0 | 12)
CSU (Specialist Operative) Rifle + Light Shotgun, Nanopulser / Pistol, Knife. (0 | 12)
SWISS GUARD HMG / Pistol, AP CCW. (2 | 68)
MULEBOT (Minesweeper, Repeater) Electric Pulse. (0 | 8)
MULEBOT (Minesweeper, Repeater) Electric Pulse. (0 | 8)
    GROUP 2[IMG] [IMG] [IMG]8 [IMG]1
    AUXILIA (Forward Observer) Combi Rifle + AUXBOT_1 / Pistol, Knife. (0 | 15)
    [IMG] AUXBOT_1 Heavy Flamethrower / Electric Pulse. (- | 4)
PATHFINDER DRONBOT Combi Rifle, Sniffer / Electric Pulse. (0 | 16)
FUGAZI DRONBOT Flash Pulse, Sniffer / Electric Pulse. (0 | 8)
FUGAZI DRONBOT Flash Pulse, Sniffer / Electric Pulse. (0 | 8)
FUGAZI DRONBOT Flash Pulse, Sniffer / Electric Pulse. (0 | 8)
    PALBOT Electric Pulse. (0 | 3)
    MACHINIST Combi Rifle, D-Charges / Pistol, Knife. (0 | 15)
    TRAUMA-DOC Combi Rifle / Pistol, Knife. (0 | 14)
    PALBOT Electric Pulse. (0 | 3)
HEXA MULTI Sniper Rifle / Pistol, Electric Pulse. (1.5 | 32)
TECH-BEE (Remote Assistant Level 1, Specialist Operative) Flash Pulse / Pistol, Knife. (0 | 5)
    5.5 SWC | 300 Points
    Open in Infinity Army

Then you play with the slot and points/SWC invested in the Hexa for different options to keep your opponents guessing.

I don't trust them to drop accurately, even with a buff.

I 100% of the time brought them in from the edge.

And their speed helps mitigate any positioning disadvantage.

Especially compared to other drop troops, who are usually MI.

The posted list has a few severe limitations. The hardest hitting gun after the single HMG, ML and MSR is a Combi Rifle without MODs. Building NCA like this is quite risky, losing the Swiss Guard effectively pulls your teeth. Where other armies can circumvent problems like a Ryuken in SF with Smoke, disposable Chainrifles, CC or Marker State troops, NCA has to fight them head on.
For that reason I tend to avoid going for full AVA Mulebots on top of Fugazi (3 Fugazi is a staple though) and pretty much never run Fusilier Hackers. For the list above the Machinist would also have to go in favour of something with a gun, there are a lot of things to repair, but nothing that's really worth it besides removing IMM-2/Isolation from the Swiss. The Trauma Doc is more useful but also not quite necessary and can be dropped to free up even more points.

Limiting factor here is always SWC for NCA. You need a Hacker and the Hexa KHD is the only 0 SWC one. You really really want a Fusilier HMG to turn the mixed CSU Link into one of the best cheap LI Links in the game and the LGL is great as well to solve problems NCA doesn't have other tools for.
In the end the Fusilier ML is often a trap and SWC sink. It'll just die as bait more often than not, taking your 1.5 SWC with it. And while the Fusilier ML + Hexa MSR in HD trap is nice to have it costs you half the SWC you really might need elsewhere.
Personal preference is to run a Deva AHD and remove the Fusilier ML in favour of adding 1-2 FO's for 0 SWC Flashpulse AROs and deployable Repeaters. Hexa MSR can situationally be swapped for a Hexa Spitfire or Garuda to get another gunner in there. With the remaining points going into extra warm bodies/DZ defenders like Auxilia, a BSG Garuda or repurchase the Trauma Doc..
This gets the list much closer to the usual 5-7 things that can pick a fight and should boost performance consistency. The Swiss HMG is great, but it's not the right tool for a turn 1 assault run up the field to hunt Prone Skirmishers on rooftops or anything else hiding way back across the field. You'd rather have it clear ARO pieces and save it for later turns when the targets have moved up the field a little.

    That's a lot of text.

Maybe you should post the list.

    ;-)

I would often run a Bulleteer Spitfire for backup firepower, and the Hexa KHD for Hacking. Relying only on flash pulse for ARO is risky, at best, these days.

NCA has a very strong front attack and a very good DZ and counter punch defense with the auxilia, but crossing no mans land is not their best ability.
I started with NCA and the Garuda was one of the reasons. True, this was before the Echo-Bravo and the only other AD option was the Akalis that i hate with every fiber of my being, but this mechanic mother lover gave me plenty of wins on virtue of no one expecting PanO trickery (because backhanded shit with a honest face is the real PanO strength, not BS).

Do your normal list, with your link, your superiority unit (Aquila or Swiss HMG), your defense...... and a Garuda Spitfire.
Clean a landing with the superiority unit for the Garuda to get in from the side, using AD2, no dice, get him in using orders from the second group = WIN. The 6-2 move makes it that you will be shooting with every order to out of cover targets, Speedfire will make it that you will always be on good rangeband with 4 shots and mimetism and cover for yourself for a cherry on top.

Be careful of entering repeater or HD zoc, but outside of that between your superiority units/link cleaning the targets the opponent let you on the front and this great machine cleaning the back...... its normally an alpha strike VERY hard to recover, done it more than a few times and its awesome.

Will edit one in later... shouldn't have implemented that stupid blocker at work. It flags Army6 when I'm in the domain network in the office.Talk about shooting yourself in the foot.

6-4 Move yo. The tincan isn't limited to 6-2 like those puny meatbags. Spitfire is an easy choice if you have the SWC, however as mentioned earlier it's not always that easy to find SWC lying around in NCA.
