    From the latest FAQ

Q: Can I declare two Discover skill against same marker in one order?
    A: No.

I'm wondering if this has been clarified anywhere, or if the spanish translation is more clear.

Is this preventing 2+ discover actions against a marker period? Or just one model from declaring the short discover + discover on the same target in one go?

    Consider these situations;
    - A model with a G: Synch both want to discover the same target
    - A co ordinated order of several discovering troops
    - A camouflage marker moves past several models who all see it. Can they all declare discover?

    Cheers

Good catch. It is in reference to a single unit declaring it twice.

AROs, while they occur during an order, aren’t considered part of that order.

So, no, it’s not indicating a limitation on how many Discover AROs can be declared.

    Whats that based on?

Not hating, just need to know the evidence so I can go back to double discover with my G: Synch stuff. Damn camo

Cause it says you can't declare discover twice in the same order.

G:synch only declares for the controller and the synch copies it.

The same works for Coordinated Orders too, though it is a bit different. Treat orders where multiple units are activated as though each one were activating separately for rules like this.

As the others have said, Coordinated Orders, G: Synch etc. just declares Discover once for everyone involved. So this is specific to declaring an Order of Discover+Discover.

I agree with OP that there's some ambiguity in the FAQ there, and thanks for your clarification as always. Is it fair to say that CB are implicitly distinguishing an Order (active turn) versus an ARO (and hence your clarification would make sense more unequivocally)?

Technically the FAQ also only forbids discover+discover vs 1 specific marker. Although the intent is pretty clear it does leave room to argue you can still declare discover+discover against 2 different markers.

Yes. It's echoing the wording for Discover+BS Attack, Move+Move etc. etc.

Yes. It's specific to two Discovers against the same marker. Two Discovers against different markers is unchanged, and still allowed.

there is NO problem in two discovers against two DIFFERENT markers in one turn, so it was not a mistake, but intended solution

Wait what. So what was the reasoning that it needed to be changed?

I don't know for sure, but my assumption is that it's to remove confusion about rolling Discovers sequentially/removing two levels of Impersonation in one Order.

well, may be because of this?
    • Upon a successful Discover Roll, the Impersonator enters the Impersonation-2 state. To represent this, replace the Impersonation-1 Marker with an Impersonation-2 Marker (IMP-2).
    • If an enemy fails his Discover Roll, that enemy cannot attempt to Discover the same impersonator until the next (Active or Reactive) Turn.
so with two rolls against one impersonator, one Success & one Failure, we get stucked?

or may be because it creates negative expirience for a reactive players when they just cant count on their CH skill if enemy declares Discover with first Short skill cause of danger get two discover rolls & forced to declare ARO they not want to?
Why the game need "Discover+Shoot" if you can savely declare "Discover+ Discover" against same model?

man, such a bummer. discover+discover was expensive but almost reliable way to reveal a camo marker, unless your army/list has other good tricks against camo.

call me a bummer is for sure weighty argument for your desire continue exploit Discover+Discover instead of fit MSV in a list or use some different strategies.
All the armies have MSV, even ariadna, but idk why ariadna will use MSV as they have a lot of good sensors.

Yeah, it does hurt tactics against markers, especially Impersonation, a lot. Risks making it extremely costly to remove them :(
