Hi all! So, I started getting units for VIRD to play against my freind and his Ariadna. I bought the Motorized Knights of Montesa as a rule of cool kind of thing. I was wondering what everyone thought of him in a VIRD list? I've been "playing" Infinity since 2018. However, I've probably played like 15 times throught that entire time. So I'm a noob when it comes down to it, and I'm the one that got my freind into it. He's running Ariadna. We mostly play homebrewd missions, and neither of us have ever played ITS. Most of our missions are escort hvt to DZ, push butten on counsel, take and hold this objective, ect. So, I was thinking maybe having a fast specialist that hopefully can take a few hits would be useful. So this is the list I was thinking of:

    Group 1
    Core: Orc Varuna Div.: Multi-Rifle
    Kamau: HRL
    Fusilier: LT
    Fusilier: FO
    Fusilier: Paramedic
    Haris: Kamau: Multi-Sniper Rifle
    Kamau: FO
    Kamau: Paramedic
    Zulu Cobra: FO
    Motorized Knight of Montesa: Paramedic

    Group 2

    Croc Man: Minelayer
    Clipper Drone Bot
    Helot: Camo LRL
    Helot: Camo LRL
    Helot: Shock Marksman Rifle

    299pts/6swc

Also, what is everyone's opinion on the other versions of the Motorized Knights of Montesa? Specifically the Red Fury option. As for minis I have, the pano set from operation Icestorm, pano set from operation kaldstrom, the VIRD starter, Squalo, Cutter, and the Helot set. Any advice is welcome.

Also, sorry about the way this looks. I'm on my phone and for whatever reason I can't ever seem to get the links to army builder to work.

Hello! I’m sure far more experienced players will be able to offer you more sound advice here. Your list looks decent, always remember that you should build your list for the mission at hand but this seems like a good all round one to me. I might consider changing a few things as there are more irregular orders there than I prefer. I’d most likely try and squeeze enough points for a good sniper. The croc man minelayer is an excellent choice you’ve taken. Minelayer is so much fun!

Depending on how you want to use the link teams you may want some long range assets in them. I swear by the cutter TAG, he’s awesome. Squalo too is excellent in Varuna and they give you really good shots with armour to weather hits on them. Watch out for hacking though!

the knight of Montesa has had insane luck for me. I use the paramedic one at the moment. I run him as a distraction up to the thing I want gone and boarding shotgun them. The other profiles are also really good.

Even if you're not playing ITS scenarios, I'd highly recommend using the adjustments to the Motorcycle rules introduced this Season, it makes bikes of all types significantly more viable, especially those without Smoke like the Montesa.

To provide you options this is how I'd roll the list intent you have. Everything apart from the Machinist can backload the core. Or the Core can backload the Haris by rolling the Clipper and Sniper into it.

The Clipper is core linked and is capable of rolling with a BS18 ML.

my advice would be to use to swap the Orc multi for the Orc feuerbach, and the missile bot for the flash pulse one.
Additionally use the core as a defensive mechanism and the haris as your attack tool.
I personally love the Kamau HMG, it was included in the beyond Icestorm box.

You have almost everything you need to play competitive lists. The ZC jammer and hacker would be my next purchase.

About the Montesa, the paramedic is a good button pusher: you spend few orders to get to the objective once the path is clear. The red fury can be excellent. I played a whole turn with the bounty hunter red fury while my cutter remained hidden to do the heavy lifting in turn 2. A B4 highly mobile decent gunner is very valuable. Especially with the ITS rules that are allowing you to opt to lose impetuous.
Btw you should play ITS as soon as you feel you've the rules secured. The biker rules are interesting and it is a way for CB to try changes in their rules without committing to those. TAGs gaining tactical awareness and +1 DMG were initially implemented during ITS season 11 for instance.

That's amazing. I didnt even think of that. That's going to be sick. I'm totally taking that idea.

That's my ultimate goal. Unfortunately, the pandemic killed the infinity community here. So, I didn't have a si gle game in 2020, and my just got into it like a couple of months ago. We were playing a lot of code one for a minute, but have since took on the N4 now. I do say the limited times I played N3, N4 is way easier to understand.

I'm definitely going to bring up this to my freind. It would be nice having a bit more say where my biker ends up. By the way thank you all for the advice. I really appreciate it. I feel like the Montesa was worthy pecie to play. I'm glade I made the purchase now.

Please elaborate on how bikes are now more viable.

Edit: Oh, is it just the option to forgo impetuous. Thats rather interesting. Does that mean Bikes can now take cover? OH BOY, that suddenly makes the Montesa knight a beast.

Yes, if you choose to not be Impetuous you can take cover. Free Mimetism doesn't affect the Montesa as they already have it, but the extra -3 BS and damage reduction of 3 from cover is a huge swing for them!

So they are mov 8-4 Orcs now. Brutal. And they are Pano's best CC unit since with 8-4 they can actually get into CC. (well, Singh is also good now as well)
