How are excess loot cards handled? If a Character gain more Equipment than they are able to carry (eg 2 Medikits and a Grenade) how are the excess stuff handled. Is it left in the container? Lost? left on the ground? I
I can't find any thing on it in the book.

That's a good question, you should post it in FAQ thread too!

According to the rulebook, if you have more loot than you can carry you discard it, noting that when you gain the cards you can immediately reorganize your inventory -and- give cards to adjacent characters (allowing them to also redistribute their equipment), so you have the chance to give things away before discarding.

References: Equip paragraph 2 and Equip paragraph 4.

Note that Interact with Containers says “Then you can perform an Equip Action for free”, and Equip is where the consequences of having too much stuff is detailed. So the expected result is likely more “Then you automatically perform an Equip Action for free.”
