Sorry, I don't follow. What do you mean by 'fill' light bouncing off walls?

Previous orange was shaded with a deep red, the new orange is shaded with a redbrown. I lean towards the latter.
    It's more orangy.

Yeah, I'm kinda bored with the same color scheme. I can't wait for the postman to drop the ColdFront box.
I'm starting Ariadna. I'm gonna dive into the land of greens, but I'm lost about which shade of green to go for.
Green has the biggest shades to choose from. Bluegreen, olive green, brown green, grey green, dark green,
    bright green, yellow green....mindblown...

    Warning mind Bending answer :
you may paint Ariadna in dessert cammos so browns and yellows !
or in City themed cammos so greys and blues !!

Light that is aimed at the walls (and ceiling) so what reaches the miniature is the bounced rays, not the direct rays. It should give something visible in the shadows. It could also define the silhouette against the background (but that is normally called a rim light... technically fill is not bounced, but by using a global bounce you can get fill+rim effect).

Light to 'fill in' the shadows behind the model. Comes from different directions than your flash or camera. Bounced light tends to be more diffuse, so fewer shadows from it.

Well, run with what you like, they're YOUR models! :+1:

Well, do you want to do jungle greens (tend to be very vibrant, more olive, bright, yellow, or occasionally dark green), Woodland greens (dark and brown greens), or some other idea?

Not to forget something exotic like the new British Multiterrain pattern, which is very much like Multicam(tm) but with 3 variations: one is the same color set as multicam, one is more green, the other is more tan. Pain in the ass to paint due to certain colors fading into each other.

    Progress but slow...
Used a few different colors for the intruder. Cause he's a commando I thought some green
would suits him so I painted the pants in field grey. The off-white turned to light grey.
Also it feels better to use some variation in color scheme.

    Thank you!

I can't tell you the exact ratios cause I go back and forth with the paint mixture, but you'll get an idea how to achieve it.

OK, here it goes, the colors used.

Base color: 50:50 - P3 Khador red base + Vallejo MC Amarantha Red
Highlighting : AK Interactive Basic intense yellow (figure line)
    Edge highlighting: Vallejo MC Ivory
Shadows: AK Interactive Dark shadow flesh (figure line)
Recesses: AK Interactive Dark shadow flesh + Scale 75 Deep blue

I mix on the fly I have no Idea of the ratios, I just add to the paint pool.
The last three miniatures were painted with this recipe, previous minis were done with a slightly different recipe.
    I hope it helps. :grinning:

Finally the Coldfront box arrived. While I was waiting for the Ariadna folk I painted my HVT mini.
It's more of a "quick" job, well at least for me.
I did some practise with the camo, jungle pattern. Mixed results I'd say. It's quite tricky to do it properly
on a 30 mm scale mini. Anyone has a useful tip?
    Well, Ariadna let's join forces.:grinning:

He's a legend even amongst the Kazak veterans. Wearing Ratnik Battle suit, the one and only
Romsky "murder machine" Vadimov. Got a bit carried away there for a second.

Something different from my usual clean Nomads. The mini is clearly in battle ravaged state. :-)
Got crazy with the battle scars and chips. I did some minor rust effects as well.
    Pretty happy with him.

I think the ratnik is an absolute masterpiece, even the basing, everything fits perfect. I think you improved your NMM technique with this one even further.

Thank you, I really appreciate it.
I pushed myself with this one and I think I reached my painting limit. What I need to learn is painting faster
especially with smooth blending which takes forever to do.

I'm not sure if you can fast paint smooth blending :p ( I've hit the 15h+ for one mini ^^)
well it probably worth all your time you've spend on it, it's fabulous ! congrats ;)
the rust weathering is a nice little touch and the NMM is perfect on the body parts

Yep, overall look is great, even though I don't like mini itself (sculpt). Awesome metals and base. And speaking of fast painting - how much you spent on Ratnik?

I usually spend 15h - 20h on a mini, but the Ratnik took about 40h .... The blends
and scratches + highlights took the most time. It's not seen in the picture(far from perfect)
but the scars have different colour depending on which camo pattern is.
I love the mini but I don't like the hammer, it's very Gw-ish. I wanted to cut it off but I didn't have
anything to replace it with. I need to buy some alternative parts and start converting.

Btw, thanks guys for the comments.
