Hi there, just getting into the game the last couple of months and I decided I ought to get on the forums because uh...I have questions. So. Many. Fricken'. Questions. But I'm going to start out with something inane instead. Has anyone tried kitbashing a Krit Kokram model with feuerbach? I know Krit is kinda rubbish for cost/benefit fail reasons, but also a) I own one already and b) I love the look of the feuerbach, which it looks like I can only use in a YJ list with Krit anyway. Right now I'm considering yoinking the weapon from a Teucer model since I can get one for like ten bucks online. Does anyone have any experience trying this goofy modeling project, or any advice for me before I get started? Thanks!
I haven't tried this particular insane modeling project, but I have done a few of my own over the years. Here are the models you're looking at: You're doing yourself a favor based on the fact that both models have an extended left arm - it seems like it's probably possible to do some surgery there to move the feuerbach into a broadly reasonable position. You'll have to watch the angles, though, or the butt of it will intersect his face. As always, I'll recommend you get a jeweler's saw if you don't already have one - in my experience, it makes jobs like this much more manageable.
It seems to me that you could cut the Feuer at the wrist and remove Krits hand completely to slap it there. As long as you can remove the weapon from the shoulder cleanly you should be fine. Good luck with that, share pics of your project please!
My worry is that Krit's backpack might get in the way preventing the weapon from sitting in a position that keeps his head looking down the sights. It might be possible to replace his heavy pistol in his lowered (right) hand though.
Here's the parts breakdown from @Penemue's old blog: http://penofpenemue.blogspot.com/2015/05/unpacking-aleph-teucer.html Looks like Teucer's left arm is attached to the gun, so you're definitely going to have to do some careful work there to separate the pieces in any case.
Thanks, that's helpful in planning! I ordered the stuff I need (including jeweler's saw, thanks for the tip) and now I'm just waiting on Teucer to show up in my mailbox Soon(TM). If I can pull it off I'll definitely share some photos of the process. If it's a hot mess...I'll explain why and publicly admit defeat. :)
I'd definitely consider putting the feuerbach in his downward facing arm (so switching arms from the Teucer one) as the extension on Krit's other arm is likely to make the weight distribution of the weapon look really odd. The only other way around that would be more complex remodelling of the weapon itself to chop out some barrel length or the like to shift the centre of mass further back.
I can't find it in the store but the Azra'il Feuerbach might be pretty good. There's a smaller amount to cut.
Azra'il went out of production last year so isn't available from CB, still a few out there in various webstores and on the 2nd hand market though.
You might also consider the older, N2 sculpt of the Azra’il feuerbach. It’s a similar shape, but a smaller scale that might fit Krit’s size better.
The hand hold positions on the Azra'il are nothing like the arm/hand positions on Krit which would make that a much more complex modelling task.
Very true; his pose makes actually wielding the weapon a difficult conversion at best. I see the Azra’il feuerbach being slung/otherwise-attached-in-a-sci-fi-way to Krit’s back.
You can search the web for Azra'il N2, I see some him from time to time: His Feuerbach is smaller than the N3 big guy's, and quite easy to cut off. I used it on my Shaytaniyah to make it look more intimidating ;) More pictures can be found in my Gallery. It would be easy to put the Feuerbach on Krit's back. If you want to convert him to really hold this weapon then it wouldn't be easy. But also I'd surely advise you to just try it. Cutting and converting metal minis isn't easy, but it's possible and gives a lot of satisfaction and joy ;) And if you won't try, you'll never succeed ;) PozdRawiam / Greetings P.S. About the N3 Azra'il - his Feuerbach is too big for Krit. I'm not sure how tall and buffed Kokram is, but Azzies FB looks way too heavy for any S2 unit.
I second the N2 Azrail recommendation (but you can't have mine, it's already been earmarked for this same conversion!) Though honestly, the advantage of the current Krit model is that it fills all the profiles.
The big guy in wildfire is an option as well. If someone ended up with multiple boxes, they may not need a second one, so it may be attainable via your local group or the buy/sell/trade group.
The premium pledges will receive this guy twice (one with helmet and one without), so you can be sure to find some for sale.
Brief update, I need to figure out how to get pics from my phone onto the forum. Hopefully the mobile site makes it easy-ish? I'm most of the way done with the conversion and waiting for some green stuff to cure. The jeweler's saw did good work, and these are in fact the things I decided to do! It might have been possible to keep Krit's hand on his arm and make small L-shaped cuts on both models to remove his gun and sever Teucer's grip from the weapon, leaving both hands with their hand grips and triggers intact, but I decided the resulting point of contact between the two models would be too small to pin and too fragile to be a dependable bonding point with glue. The main downside is that now I'm missing the armored plates around Krit's hand, but I may try to approximate those with a bit of green stuff at the end. It was a close thing; the weapon's length is in fact an issue. I thought about cutting it carefully into sections and reconfiguring it as kind of a bullpup-format weapon, but once I tried it in position it fits OK. The thing that ended up being a hang-up is that the shoulder guard on the weapon doesn't line up well with the shoulder plates on Krit's Zuyong armor. I used a bit of spare material and some green stuff to bulk up the bottom of the back part of the feuerbach, and I need to let that cure and then add a bit of detail to make it look convincing. The lowered arm would have positioned the weapon so the point was below ground level (but off the base). I decided it looked too weird with the rest of the pose, which is a bit of a pity; he'd have been an interesting variation on the pose of the Fasid rocket launcher model, which I quite like. Teucer's ALEPH model feuerbach is really slender and light for this type of weapon, and given that ISS brings in ALEPH troops I think it makes sense for Krit to be toting this version of the gun. It's small enough that it looks easily supportable in a power-armored grip. So as long as my fine-scale modeling efforts don't ruin the way it looks, I think it's going to turn out pretty well for my first Infinity conversion.
Forum uploader is dodgy sometimes (and I think images are purged after 12 months or so), if you're having problems just make a small private album on Imgur as a reliable alternative.
