Hi free folks, I am consider trying a mobile HD or HD+ for the Armory to use Lockpick to only open my door instead of all four, giving me a slight advantage. As the mission is with a 16" exclusion zone, massive infiltration is out of play. So I need a reliable way to get the Hacker to the Armory, ideally with few orders. I narrowed it down a few units. Priorities are: Chance to reach it > Speed > able to defend afterwards Reverend Custodier (34/0): + ODD and Marker State (Cybermask) make her hard to geek + Excellent ARO with ODD and Suppressive + Forward Deployment due to MI + Repeater Coverage with Pitcher + White Noise - Expensive - Slow Interventor (27/0): + Also Marker State (Cybermask) + Repeater Coverage with FastPanda + Cheap + Rather fast + Excellent odds for WIP role + White noise - Weak defense - Weak BS - Weak Suppressive ARO Intruder (43/0.5): + Camo and Marker State without Order expenditure + Forward Deployment due to MI + MSV-2 + DTW + Excellent BS + Good ARO with Mimetism and Suppressive - Expensive - Slow Mobile Brigada (43/0.5): + Tough (2W) + Rather fast + Excellent BS + Above-average Suppressive ARO due to high BS and Courage - Expensive - No Camo/Marker I tend to the first three because the MB does not bring much to the table other than its' two wounds... However surviving is what counts in the Armory and is likely that the room gets filled with shrapnel... The Interventor is cheap and therefore very optimized but it has only one trick to get there: the Cybermask... The Intruder is my favorite because he is just plain awesome. The Custodier is inferior to the Intruder but the ODD could make the difference. What to you think? Is it worth the effort? Should I combine the open and defend task? Or maybe just jank a Jazz and hope for the best? Gesendet von meinem Nokia 6.1 mit Tapatalk
From your list the Intruder may be the best option, though engineers can also do the same thing IIRC. or just use a morlock to punch a hole in the door, a broken door can be moved through and doesn't open every door on the building
There's a hacking tool called Missile Launcher that will quickly open a single door. It's the fastest and most reliable way in for sectorials - take the respective HI link and go in. Since you're playing vanilla I'd open it with a Krakot or an Uberfall team.
Ok, thank you. Wasn't aware that the door may be targeted. I thought some kind of "you are allowed to target this" trait would be required. However I'm a bit sad that I actually found a use for hackers in N3 only to be told that shooting is the more viable option.. as always :( Not your fault, hope we get a better mission mix in ITS11. if lockpick was on AHDs then hacking into the room would be a viable option, but it unfortunately isn't.
Hackers are viable in Armoury. Just not for door opening. Most people want to out HI inside the room, so AHDs/Repeaters covering it can do very well. Equally, Spotlight + Guided/Spec Fire can be very effective at clearing the room. Finally, White Noise can be very effective at getting troops to the Armoury if you expect MSV AROs stopping you. But yeah, I mainly use Morlocks and Uberfalls to actually open doors.
Obvious lieutenants are fair game for the Armory since there's no time to LT hunt. I'd take the Interventor LT for vanilla for sure if you don't want it to be a Kriza or a Taskmaster.
Yeah I like assault hackers in room missions to mess with HI. I often park a Moran outside. Repeater, one Koala deep the room, one close to the Moran, then either suppressive fire or a BSG with Mimetism (not peeking in the room). Fast way to add a couple layers of defense.
The only disappointing thing is that refilling the Koalas doesn't count as "acquiring an item from the Panoply" :'(
