Hello! Decided to create my first character for fun (and to better understand the system), and I am kinda lost with augmentations. To be precise with Cyborg trait. For some reason I cant find it (as gene-freak or chimera traits) anywhere in the book. Can someone point me in the right direction?
Maybe they were placed in the Nomads supplement book? I'll have to take a look in the core book to see if what you are asking is in there.
@Rumdog Ok I've found it in the core book on page 344 under Cybernetics. It states on the same page that gene-freaks and chimeras are under Biografting while cyborgs are under the Cybernetic term. The page explains the difference between the two groups and what characters are considered gene-freaks/chimera compared to other Biografters.
Thanks for the reply! Yeah, that's where I found them too. I just thought there should be some sort of "game" description, not just "fluff" one...if that makes sense.
Plenty of role-playing opportunities come to mind: Some people find obvious cybernetic modification gauche, crude, or unfashionable, most of the Sphere prefers cloned replacements or invisible bioware augmentations to obvious cybernetic mods. On the flip side street level or counterculture types might respond more favourably to a more cyberpunk looking character. Cybernetics can cause issues at security checkpoints, like having a metal plate going through airport metal detectors, but a cannny character could find ways to use this to their advantage! Cybernetic limbs don't feel pain so can be used to grab or hold things a normal person couldn't, this would be up to the GM and may damage the cybernetic, but could prove pretty useful.
Yeah, in the forum RP I was in, my ex-Uberfallkommando got his social aura flagged with a 'This person has mods illegal in YJ, speak to him at your own risk' tag. Really made those poor cops about crap themselves when they responded to a shots-fired incident...
