A quick question! How are people playing the Marksmanship + Discover interaction? Our group seems to be of two minds about the subject! Discover reads "applying the same MODs as in a BS Attack (Cover, Range, Mimetism...)", while techically Marksmanship says in the requirements that "The user may only benefit from this Special Skill when he declares a BS Attack." Intuitively it feels like Marksmanship should apply here, but RAW it can be argued it shouldn't... Then again, Targeted shouldn't effect Discovers either, as it reads "Any Trooper declaring a BS Attack, Hacking Program or Comms Attack against a Trooper in the Targeted State gains a +3 MOD to the Attribute used to perform that Attack.", yet the FAQ says "Q: Does Discover benefit from the Targeted state? A: Yes, it does. Discover says to apply the same MODs as in a BS Attack." Is there a general consensus on the topic? Have a great day everyone!
...yep, and thusly Targeted shouldn't apply either - yet it does. So are people really playing it RAW, and if so, is this something that should maybe have look taken at in a future FAQ? I'm personally fine with it either way, but what bugs me is the inconsistency between Marskmanship and Targeted when it comes to Discover...
You didn't read Targeted state properly... The EFFECTS of Targeted state is giving a +3 MOD on BS Attack yaddayaddayadda... This is the difference there. Marksmanship REQUIRE the declaration of a BS Attack.
But Discover is not BS attack, Hacking Program or Comms Attack, is it? So what makes Targeted apply to Discover? Other than FAQ telling us that it does.
First bullet of Discover Effects tell you so. And now realise please that marksmanship is not a MOD, but an Skill.
