A holoecho (not the real model, one of the echoes generated by a holoprojector 2) is hit by a madtrap. Does this cause a cancellation of the echo? On one hand, the cancellation requirements for holoecho are consistent with those of other marker states, meaning they aren't cancelled by adhesive ammunition. On the other, the madtrap declaring Boost is reaching base contact with the echo. I believe this second factor successfully causes cancellation of the echo. Can someone confirm?
I'd go with yes the holoecho is cancelled, but does not make any rolls. Madtraps are models according to the game terminology section. Madtraps enter base to base with their Target. Having a model enter base to base with the holoecho is a cancellation. . This last one is a bit of an interpretation as the cancellation specifically says: Whenever It enters base to base contact with a model. Which might imply only when the holoecho initiates base to base. But really that would fail Occam's.
From an in-setting 'realism' POV, I could see the holoecho getting revealed that way. I mean, the Madtrap/CrazyKoala runs into B2B with the model/marker triggering it, because that's what holoechoes are supposed to be able to do, decoy mines and whatnot. Then the kaboom happens, but there's nothing there for the glue or 'splosion to actually affect, so everyone knows that was an Echo and not a real person.
