I'm looking for basing ideas that can be applied after a model is painted and assembled.I prefer to get an army playable first, then worry about basing later. Also this lets me expand my force without buying lots of bases in advance. For my haqq, I used some textured gel and gravel, dry brushed to a dessert theme. For my IA force I'm using random debris and the citadel astrgranite debris textured paint, along with a little bit of brown washes for urban concrete debris look. sorry not photo. It goes well with a deep red army theme. I'm starting to paint my Shasvasti (old models first), and looking for an idea. I have the material for standard forest flocking. My main colors are going to be contrast paints (warpstone green?, Iannawatever yellow, and basilacanum grey, with a little Blood angel red). I used this in the past for guildball.
My absolutely first go-to for basing for quite a while has been this Youtube channel, as this dude, despite being very 40K oriented, throws so many cheap, easy yet good looking basing ideas that could be used by anyone regardless of game. I believe nearly all of them could work for your purposes. Also it's still worth looking at the D&D crafters and miniature terrain channels out there, like the folks at the Tabletop Crafters Guild, LukesAPS and others, maybe just the mention of a material or technique might fire your inspiration.
Greenstuff world do leaf punches that let you turn coloured paper into leaves, it's a great way to add a splash of colour to a base, autumn leaves in red/orange look especially nice on a drag grey/brown base.
