So I was on Instagram a bit ago and saw that @infinitythegame had a new story so watched it and it seems to indicate that the flag logo will change from Allah to Wisdom. Thoughts ?
So far, the reception doesn't seem to be enthusiastic, but most of the folks in Haqq doesn't seem to be bothered, really. There are voices saying that the new logo is not graphically sound, and should be fixed, before it really becomes a thing. We have little idea as of what caused the change.
I’d assume the fact that it is actually Allah in Arabic and I know that the fact that it’s on boxes and cards means that from a cultural (probably religious but I’m not overly so not 100%) standpoint they shouldn’t be thrown in the rubbish as it’s viewed as disrespectful.
According to a friend in my local meta, the arabic letters in the logo read "the Knowledge" - but misspelled. There should be 2 dots above the last letter. Edit: Reasons for Change ninja'd by Ashtroboy :)
Yuppp wisdom is spelled حكمة. They put knowledge on the logo. Its not specifically "the knowledge" and ه can be used for masculine with ة for feminine. There are additional rules to using ة that I don't remember that might mean المعرفة should have the ة unless otherwise specified. The least they could have done is used Arabic calligraphy along with getting the word right. I don't know why a company can't ask an Arabic speaker how to do something but CB has consistently dropped the ball. Not using الله as a logo makes sense to me however. But there is a mountain of significantly better stuff they could have gone with that wasn't bad google translate and print. Piss poor job by CB. Get an F on this one.
The change itself isn't that big a deal but it's just so shitty graphically. The old flag had at least some appeal to it with the calligraphy. This new one looks like someone just took Arabic and typed it out in helvetica.
The issue is the translation error and graphical appearance, if they got a calligrapher and edited the IC statement or changed from Ma'rufah to Hikmah it would be fine. I appreciate the sentiment behind the change, box disposal will be a bit less awkward for Muslims with the new logo.
The intention is great, as always CB seem to be great in the "heart" of things. But the execution is crap, as always CB cannot get their shit together editorially and graphically. Just look at my posts about the C1 rulebook, it's an utter mess.
Hey, at least the didn't write it like in Lunah's logo. Or the Hakim's logo. This time they linked the letters properly and from right to left. That's more than I would've expected from CB.
Ironic about Hakim because hakim with a ة or حكمة is the actual word for wisdom lol. I wonder if CB is going to acknowledge their screw up.
I've written in already on FaceBook: don't like the change, but even more don't like the new "font". It's just awful. If the old logo was offensive in religious way, than the new one is offensive in artistic way. At least for me. PozdRawiam / Greetings
As I stated in the June thread, I'm feel this is because of someone or some people being offended at the logo. If CB wants to make this change right then make the reasoning behind the change in Infinity's lore due to the outcry of Haqqite religious heads/speakers. I think it would fit well as an in-game explanation of a nation's redesigning of their national flag.
Opinions will vary, but it seems like a smart change to me. If there was a poll, I would support am N4 reboot of Haqq lore towards something more secular. The Haqqislam lore summary reads like something that was very well intended a decade ago, but the idea of a New Islam re-becoming the ultimate space good guys lands a little flat these days. I hope this is the first indication of that happening.
I don't think they were ever portrayed as ultimate space good guys. Plus if they do go secular it would cause some upheaval in the religious community of Haqqislam (the in-lore/universe community). Considering the lore behind how Haqqislam got started having the nation turn to move away from their religion is not going to go over quietly. It might make some circles to be wary of the future of their nation or even resort to violent means like how the Hassassins started spreading the message of Haqqislam before the assent into the ocean above. We might even get a civil war or some sort of smaller upheaval down the road if the lore progresses that far.
I would have thought that the Hassassin Bahram would have pretty convincingly ended any notion of being "good guys".
