Right guys, got me new box the other day. Love the minis but really not sure on the profiles of the lobos. What are you guys running them in? Enjoying using them? Any good stories to share?
Obviously you take the NCO/Redfury in vanilla and a Deamonist Observant and cause the world to end with the OP combo. In all seriousness they seem okay. They all have access to breaker (bear hunting) and are quite good in CC. They do seem to suffer a lot from the usual complaints about MI, tons of gear sometimes of niche use, bloating their costs while still being fragile with a single wound. I think a single one with some lobos/jags/senior massacre in haris is probably the ideal use. The lobo has okay ranged weapons, advance, then jam some cheap CC/Smoke into your opponent.
Yeah, I just wonder for the price aren't you mechanically better off taking snr massacre in that role as he's got breaker combi but also brings eclipse smoke. They seem a bit FUBAR-ed by internal competition to me
@csjarrat you're not wrong? Massacre is still a single wound, he just can get back up if he doesn't get killed, and he's more expensive and not a specialist. Breaker combi is a specialist operative and has some extra utility weapons, DTW, flash pulse. I agree I prefer massacre in a vacuum, but with list building constraints... SO is important for winning, it just depends if you want to include a different SO wildcard, daktari, valeria, jazz, and lupe are all options too, but sans lupe are all even less combat capable. So maybe it's just an issue of being spoiled for choices.
Yeah it's just a head scratcher, I want to use them but feels like taking them is more for rule of cool than anything
An NA2 faction that got Lobos would be a fun way to try them out with different internal competition. Also would kinda make sense if they ended up mixed into a cop-themed O-12 sectorial. Even if they're Nomad-cops, seems like law enforcement professionals might work together. They might be outcompeted there too though... Beyond that, the only place I could see these guys being role-perfect over other Corregidor options is if the Hunting Party mission popped up again, or something like it. Maybe with the new events ITS will feature another capture-stuff mission in a future season. Or maybe if there's some future utility for B2 Flash Pulse that we haven't seen yet...? Otherwise yeah, just Rule of Cool.
I don't have any experience with them yet (Diablos are another story), but I'd be tempted to analize them in two contexts: Lobos as Alguacile replacements. They count as Alguaciles, so you can use them to boost an Alguacile core with essentially some Alguaciles on steroids (better CC, better BS, better ARM, Religious, Veteran...). Plus, the Red Fury brings NCO into the fold. Lobos in Correctional Fireteams. Now we're talking! There are actually two/three profiles you could find interesting: Red Fury NCO. Brings a SAW ad NCO to your Jaguar / Diablo fireteam, giving it a high-burst weapon for engaging targets fro a distance if necessary, and allowing you to feed Lt's Order into the fireteam (usually for movement). Either of the Specialist Operatives. Pure Correctional Fireteams suffer from the lack of specialists.
The problem with the Lobo NCO Red Fury going into Jaguar links is that there's a Wildcat NCO Spitfire with MSV1 who is just better overall (unless Veteran or CC are anticipated needs), and who can Wildcard in. You know what would -really- make Lobos appealing? Make Jaguars count as Correctional core members, so you can mix Lobos, Diablos, and Jags to have a pure core prison-gang. Small change, big difference for appeal. That would be the main reason to take a Lobo over that Wildcat Spitfire.
Anyone else question whether the red fury is pointed correctly? Like isn't a red fury like 8 points more than a combi? The red fury picks up NCO and a red fury, but loses a shotgun and ahdl (+1b)of for 10 points. Like was all that gear lost free? If the red fury was even a few points cheaper it wouldn't make the wildcat outright better...
I don't see any reason to take them with Biometric the way it is. Oh look, you got to discover once before they get to where they want to go...cooool. Lots of gear you don't want to use. Lots of CC you don't really want to use. Goes in a link setup you really don't need or care for it in. It looks neat and it exists. I got a box because I am a collector, but I don't see myself using it.
