Surely I will miss my KHD Naga to clear the way if there are nasty hackers around, but I will try to surpass them with fairy dust and stealth. In the event of Achilles dying or being stopped, then the mk2 should take the baton and would press for the beacon. Lately I have been using Achilles v2 instead of V1. I find more confortable with ARM6 over ARM4 and passing heavy flamers attack on 9 over 11 (although really is only a 10% more). What are your preferences? Thank you very much
I’ve never used V2, I just prefer the original Achilles model, and he doesn’t look like an ARM6 ;) Regarding your list I think you need some more offense. Achilles is fairly easy to counter on his own - get the MK2 a rifle, substitute the MK5 for a MK4 or scrounge up a zayin for the danavas perhaps. I’m not a fan of the Thorakite engineer either, just too slow. Thorakite FO make sense for backfield cheerleading with ARO covering decent range bands. But if you want a cheap backup objective grabber, get the daikini medics; 15 pts for MOV6-4 specialist, that will win against most line troopers and can be a great midfield harassment is golden.
Thanks Regelridderen! Yeah, it's what I sense, the list lacks a second heavy hitter apart from Achilles. Nowadays I have learnt to use him not so boldly, refraining himself for not endind isolated in enemy DZ, so is difficult to counter but when he falls, the battle is mostly lost. I'm not decided with mk2. MSR is ace both AROing and taking apart pesky ARO pieces. But the assault hacker, when she start pumping the boarding shotgun can be unstoppable. Thorakites over dakini. Yeah, I know dakinis are more all around troops, but the thorakites excel in back field guarding without needing suppresing fire (although it's a plus). Eng is cause is the cheapest, not very fan of him, but with the bot he can accomplish the task of reconnecting Achilles. Other option is going ten orders, dropping the 3 netrods and both lamedh, and adding a zayin plus a second yudbot for the medic.
Drop the Thorakites Engineer, upgrade Myrm Officer to Machaon, change Posthuman Mk.I to Engineer. Still have 10 points to play around.
I tend to prefer the mk1 doctor over engineer because he can "self heal" if needed. And Machaon would not do the same thing the Officer is there to (avoid LoL when Achilles gets toasted in any way). The dakinis are a godsend: 15 points mean you have 4 regular orders for 60 points which can capture the Supplies with a roll of 16 (due to Paramedic), and while they require a Suppresive Fire to be really good ARO pieces they impose a -9 to the enemy (-3 because of mimetism, -3 because of cover and -3 because of Sup.Fire), and they do not become impetuous. Also, as I told you on the spanish version of this post, Capture and Protect no longer requires specialists, now it's just "use your Datatracker to go there, grab the beacon and take it home".
He's using Myrmidon Officer as the Lt version, not the CoC version, so Machaon would the same thing. Personally I rarely if ever bring Proxy Doctor because Machaon is such a beast overall and we don't have other good choice for an Engineer.
I usually bring a Sophotect as engineer, frankly. And I fail to see why bring the officer as Lt, yeah, scrounging 5 points shouldn't be an issue... and as you say Machaon is better. I would use Achilles as Datatracker and Lt, because that's an extra order for him to run. You are correct by assuming I totally failed to see the officer as Lt (I only saw her used in that capacity once... SP Vs CA in a Paradiso Campaign).
The battle is never lost, even though the killing may be over ;) I’m a really big fan of our ODD, Eclipse grenade specialists; Machaon and the CoC officer, they win games without ever firing a gun.
