I'm trying to use the SHRL for giggles. I think I have a pretty generic all comers list though the variety of new classifieds has me a bit concerned I think it may work. Probably don't need as many FO's but the idea is to strip back my usual go to units (Suk3ul HMG, Gao Rael Sniper) and try something different. Feedback and suggestions particular around getting guided shots or general use of the SHRL would be good. It's a surprisingly powerful piece. I think out of the smart weapons the only one that is a native B2 which is pretty neat. I'm trying to use it by being prone on a roof and taking direct shots if an opponent has over-extended themselves or later in game if I need a long ranged ARO piece. Targeted is probably better with the Sukeul FO or Clipsos but I'd like to get it to work more. Fire damage is scary
Whoa, TWO Mates? Somebody wants to lose all their friends at once. BTW, Guided mode always has B1, no matter what.
Guided is B1 no matter what. BS+6, for the Chaksa it's 17, it's a template, so opponent will have a PH-3 dodge (unless it has SS). Better than Spec fire's -6, but still needs effort to put the opponent to targeted. FO is B2 with no +3 range, maybe you are just better off with shooting them with a HMG.
To a competitive game bring your competitive list. And there are only competitive games, otherwise you'll end up in the endless whine train of "but my list is fluffy, and yours is power gamer". Shut up and git gud. (not you, personally). The only valid complaint is about Ariadna, Ghazi, the messed up discount weapons and impetuous system and how hard is it to be Pano.
Tohaa is unfortunately missing spotlight. With it, the Chaksa with guided rockets would be a really good choice.
I think Tohaa is missing more Pheroware specialists. How is our signature skill only represented by a one-shot option (that's expended even of you fail the roll) and a single lackluster tactic on a non-linkable troop?
Real dedication to the meme would be taking four SHRLs for the coordinated guided fire. For real though: including just the one isn't too hard, and clipsos FOs are about as efficient as it gets at landing targeted off a reasonable size order pool. It won't make guided a tactic for every game, but I've personally had some good use with both direct fire and AROs from the chaksa for those games when you don't have the ideal clumped murder target.
I suppose in full disclosure I should say I've almost entirely replaced the SRHL with krakots or other pieces in most lists, but still that's no reason to avoid experimenting with it.
