Hello again, everyone. Here I am with (hopefully not) stupid questions. So, yesterday I was running Operation Icestorm demo missions for a guy thinking about joining the Infinity community, and when I was explaining Lieutenant and LoL , he asked me a question that completely stumped me. The situation he described is as follows: it is Player A's active turn. He moves his Lt, gets ARO shot and falls Unconscious. On his next order, Player A activates a nearby Doctor and successfully heals his fallen Lt. The question is - will Player A be in Loss of Lieutenant on his next turn? According to RAW, the Lieutenant skill is not lost once the trooper goes Null, and LoL happens only in the tactical phase, so just before the order count - and the Lt is not unconscious at that time. The second question is about reassigning the Lt in the end of the LoL turn. My community was playing it as "you can assign any alive trooper as the new Lieutenant", but guys from a neighboring community (two regions over, visited our big tournament last weekend) think that you can only assign a new Lt from troopers that have a Lt profile in the Armybuilder. So, which option is correct?
First question - Loss of Lieutenant is only checked at the start of your active turn. If you do something (anything) to get your Lieutenant back up before then, you will not be penalized. Second question - neither of you is correct, unfortunately. It's any trooper except for Irregular models and REMs. http://infinitythewiki.com/en/Loss_of_Lieutenant IMPORTANT! Troops with the Irregular Characteristic or the REM Troop Type on their Troop Profile cannot be appointed as Lieutenant.
