Haqq has a lot of interesting sniper options. But Knauf seems like a really strong option for vanilla. Multi sniper which isn’t common in Haqq, mim-3 msv1 bs13 +1B for active shooting. what do you think? Have you used him? Or do you stick with cheaper swc options? :)
@HeadChime is a big Knauf advocate over on the IGL discord. He uses him solely in the active turn, and says that he's a terrible ARO piece, which makes a lot of sense to me. If you're looking for ARO snipers, I don't think Vanilla has much to offer other than Daylamis. But it would be worth giving some thought to the Azrail Feuerbach.
Consider me biased, but I think he's one of the best sniper loadouts in the game atm and definitely so in Vanilla Haqq. BS 13, MSV1 and B3 on both his MSR and AP Heavy Pistol is a nearly complete gunfighter package across several range bands. Stealth also comes in rather handy once you get into CQC. Yes, he's pricy for Haqq standards, but you get what you pay for. Lasiqs and Dzanbazan are cheaper alternatives with their own respective quirks, but I tend to go for Knauf whenever I have the points for this particular slot for his pure damage potential. As @QueensGambit already insinuated, don't mistake him for an ARO piece. He's an active turn killer piece equivalent to a Haris point man. If he's poking out on your opponent's turn though, thats 32 points and 1.5 SWC down the drain.
Knauf is a beast, he's a bit fragile and expensive for ARO but BS13 with a Visor, Mimetism-3, and that extra active turn burst is fantastic, he's basically a one man Haris on your own turn! Adding Shock on to the AP/DA ammo from his MSR is just icing on the cake, he's also pretty capable at CQB with a Burst 3 AP+Shock Heavy Pistol.
He's a pretty stellar active-turn sniper who can also pull some ARO duty on turn 2 or 3 once your opponent's big attack pieces are down. He's expensive, but he pulls his weight.
This. The fact that a Solo Unit can snipe like a Haris Sniper, without the penalty of being bound to 2 other units makes him a brutal attack piece.
Knauf is an auto-include in vanilla Haqq for me. Burst 3 with double action is good enough to take down most targets and the MSV and mimetism just add to this. In Haqqislam, we're low on proficient long-range gunfighters. Asawira covers 8 to 24 nicely, but it gets a bit sparse when you look at HMGs. The azrail is ok but no MSV can make it struggle. The jann is ok, but has the same issues as the azrail. The djanbazan is covered with the visor, but BS12 on its own is meh. And all of these lack AP. Knauf covers these range-bands AND gives you AP. He addresses basically all the holes you'd otherwise have.
Hmm, Knauf saying that Knauf is good? Who'd thought of that? :D But being almost serious - I don't use Knauf, I use Jethro mini with Knauf profile :P It fits the Haqq style more for me and gives me an option to use that great miniature. I liked him already in N3, but now he's even better. I take him or Djan Sniper usually, but most of the time stick with Jethro. He's great for active hunting on long ranges and his Multi Sniper makes him really stand out in Haqq. AP can be very helpful vs TAGs or other toughies in current meta, my Sniper helped me to take out Szalamandra or Ajax in my latest games. And - as I like to play aggressively even in ARO - I usually also give him some ARO duty on long firelanes, supported by other guys (Daylamis, Shihab et cetera). Sure, sometimes he dies, but sometimes he hits his target and with DA and Shock he hits hard. So I can definitely recommend trying him :) PozdRawiam / Greetings
