Any thoughts on the effectiveness of using Killer Hacking Devices to gain Impersonation? Especially on our Models that also have Camouflage options such as Zulu-Cobras and Hexas? Misformatted and the mobile forum won’t allow me to delete it. Anyway something like this: Group 1 Hexas Killer Hackers x3 Mulebot EVO FUGAZI x2 NCA Machinist +2 Palbots Albedo Friar Sierra Dronbot HMG Warcor 360 Visor Group 2 Fusilier HMG Fusilier Combi Fusilier Lieutenant Fusilier Missile Launcher Fusilier Combi+LGL Sierra Dronbot HMG Mulebot Minesweeper + repeater Fusilier Fireteam serves as a defensive shooting piece. Albedo Friar defends versus Imps and hunts MSVs, which are the main Hexa threat. Sierras guard flanks and cover midfield, with palbots nearby to revive (and help with aro discover rolls when needed, along with Warcor). EVO grants enhanced reaction to fugazis who help contest the center alon with the Impersonated Hexas, simultaneously loosing a huge threat to all enemy hackers. Anyway the basic idea is Imps are ridiculous by themselves, needing to be discovered twice, and then rolling on - 6 after the discovery, plus being able to push buttons, it seems like it would be something out of a nightmare. And for only 27 points. Seems lethal, but maybe just inexperienced opinion. Thoughts? The Impersonation option on the KHD (and the HD+, but that's not relevant to us) is useful but situational. For a startoff, it can be order intensive to get into, and provides less protection than the Camo marker states. But it does protect against Mines and Sensor, which can be points in its favour. It's not for every game, and you don't want to build around it, but it's a useful tool to keep in your pocket to answer particular tactical situations which may emerge in any game.
Cybermask puts you into Impersonation-2, so you only need to be discovered once. In addition both IMP-2 and TO have Negative Feedback so you can only benefit from one in an order, putting you at risk of an easy Discover+Shoot with no modifiers. Cybermask is a neat trick for getting around mines, but the real purpose of a KHD is to kill hackers (and be a specialist if appropriate).
No need to forgive ignorance, this forum is a place of learning. There is no shame in asking questions and learning new things.
