Our local Warcor started an Escalation League two months ago and I decided to join in with TJC. There are 20+ players participating, experience levels reaching from very very good to absolute newbies. I play Infinity since 2013, but with long periods of abscence due to kids, job and life in general. The last 18 months I played mostly Nomads vanilla and Corregidor. But as I don't have a lot of time, I enjoy every game I am able to squeeze ib. For example this year I just played about 10 games so far, 5 of them at the german Interbavario Satellite Tournament (1 win, 1 draw, 3 lost). As I had to wait for the TJC rules (and miniatures) I joined in mission 2 (but will play mission 1 later). Mission 2: - you get mission points for controlling+activating consoles and controlling areas in the midfield - 150pts / 3 SWC; maximum 7 miniatures, at least 5 from the starter box, no fire teams - I played the Starter miniatures (Kriza HMG lieutenant, 3 Securitate (2 Paramedics), Heckler Jammer and Hollowman Specialist. - My opponent played MO (Starter Box with 4 Order Sergeants (2 Paramedics , 1 TO Sniper, 1 Specialist Order Sergeant), 1 Spec. Order Sergeant w/AuxBot, Teutonic knight w/Panzerfaust, Magister Knight w/Panzerfaust + LSG, I was in Retreat at the end of turn 2, lost 4:0 at mission points and had just the Hollowman Specialist with 1 wound left. I made lots of mistakes, putting my Kriza AROing against the Magister Knight and getting knocked out by the second Panzerfaust round . The Kriza died because he failed his PH throw for the medikit of the securitate Paramedic. The Magister Knight was then able to circle thru my whole homezone and kill the rest of my men. Lessons learned: - I need to go first when playing those small games (I chose sides and who has to deploy first) - while deploying I have to check LoF so it is more difficult for my opponent to sneak around and shoot my miniatures in the back. - the Kriza is not made for AROing but to be used in the active turn. - dodging with the Hollowman in quiet a pain in the ass due to PH 10
Yes, and thanks for giving a list of "lessons learned!" Looking forward to hearing more about your trials and tribulations.
