Hello all! I'm a predominately Aleph player thinking pretty hard about picking up JSA as an additional faction to open up a very different playstyle. In looking at the Action pack for the faction I'm a little curious as to how old some of these sculpts are. I feel like the Daiyokai for example looks great but the line troopers look like they come from an earlier era of Infinity. Do the sculpts look a little better in person than they show in screenshots? I've heard the rumors about JSA being in the next Operation box and so it has me a little hesitant to bite at the moment if a lot of this is dated and due for a resculpt.

Also, I know Yuriko Oda is pretty highly recommended and I thought I saw her mixed into another product somewhere that wasn't her Dire Foes box. Is there another way to get her or is Dire foes the only option?

    Thanks.

JSA Army box/Action Pack was all brand new sculpts when it first released at Adepticon 2018, the level of detail is every bit as good as minis being released today. Rumours of them being in an Operation box are nothing more than Idle speculation and have no basis in statements from CB. I'd actually say it's very unlikely to happen.

Yuriko Oda was also available in the JSA reinforcement pack as part of the Defiance Kickstarter, though I tend to proxy her with the O-Yoroi pilot or Kaizoku as Yuriko's miniature is quite old compared to most of the JSA range.

Good to hear, and thanks. Looking at the models again I think it's just the one bearded Keisotsu that really bothers me, and he actually looks a lot better to me in the 360 video than the still image. Maybe just a weird angle. A lot of the stuff like the Kuroshi and the new Kitsune I like quite a bit, so feeling fairly tempted.

And you're spot on with Yuriko-- I was thinking of the Defiance box that had her in it.

I have not much to add here besides that Yuriko might be old but she is a very beautifull mini. She blends in with the minis of the action pack really well and was a blast to paint. I think she suffers a bit from the official paint job (in comparison to the newer minis) but actually she is very nice.

I think Yuriko is a very early CAD sculpt which always helps. Some of the Dire Foes were CAD sculpts by Fausto and some were hand sculpts by other sculptors.

IIRC the oldest part of the JSA range is the Support Box which is hand sculpted N2 vintage. Neko is a really nice sculpt but a little undersized. I think everything else is bang up to date though. JSA has one of the more complete and modern miniature ranges.

The bearded Keisotsu is Ishikawa from Ghost in the Shell. Several of the JSA models are modeled after characters from GITS.

Yeah, I caught the reference— mostly after noticing the Ryuken 9– but it was more that his head looked lumpy or uneven to me in the screenshot. He looks better in the video and I don’t mean to pick on the poor guy.

Ordered the action pack at my LGS earlier today!
