Hey! Been playing for a good while now, and finally decided to start getting better photos of my models and actually making a journal... All the minis are magnetized. I am starting with my Aleph. This is a big mixed bag, some older stuff I painted way back when, some stuff I painted recently and some stuff a friend painted for me to help deal with my pile of lead at home. I figure we start with some basic troops... Full compliment of Dakinis there, I just love the look of these guys. I use these guys all the time. Had to repaint the older one to match the new ones. I went a bit overboard with my Myrms... I love the troops, and SP is still my main army in Aleph, so I got some extras and gone to town converting them. I have at least one of each loadout, but the cheapo chain rifle ones are my favorites. The officer has my little magnetic Datatracker marker on her base.
I didn´t want to take a single picture of each miniature, so I starter grouping them as it pleased my eye... so bear with me: Playing SP there is no escaping these guys... Way back when I liked running the duo with the little guys in the front, but ever since I got the big Achilles and converted him, he was my first choice for leading my SP. Hector and Hyppolita also do good work :) I am not a huge fan of the Marut as a model, but with the game as it is on N4, I had to get it ready for the table. Now, THESE are my favorite OSS models. Had to fix Pavarti´s braid, because it is way more fragile than it should be, and converted a Asura for those games when you need a good gunfigther. Dart is just awesome. And some love for my SP support characters. I don´t think I ever fielded Thamyris, but I kinda like the model and he can be a decent HVT. The other 3 are constants on my lists.
I did have more of the older style remotes, but I sold them because I just love the look of the new ones. Arjunas just look cool, love their SW stormtrooper vibe These are an example of minis painted so far apart that I just have a totally different scheme in each miniature Little collection here of bits and pieces... the Garudas look fantastic, but I hate how unbalanced they are
Here area a bunch of models that I like, but don´t use nearly as much as I should. The Naga Sniper and the Dasyus end up being Posthuman Proxies... Talking about Posthumans... The HMG one is still unpainted because I was torn between doing him or using him for a conversion. Seriously, how crazy good are these guys in N4? Ajax may just be my favorite Aleph mini. Phoenix and Atalanta need no intros, but I am trying to convince myself to use Teucer one of these days. These two are weird... Love the Drakios model, never use him... Hate Scylla, but use her all the time :) Acmon is both one of my favorite SP models and a total must use now... Plus, Dactys are aways useful. Nesaie is in the wrongpicture, but I forgot to include her with the Thorakitai Shakti and her Yadus should have gone up earlier with the basic troops, but I forgot about them :) And this rounds the army up... Now, I need to go and photograph some Haqq!
So, let´s start with the ground-pounders again... I seem to have at least 3-4 extra minis from each of these units still in my pile of shame, but I do have a fondness for the little guys :) Is 7 Daylamis too many? I converted them so that all could claim to have a panzerfaust, and no duplicate poses. Pretty happy with the results. I have some more Ghulams on my paint schedule, and I also have a couple more of the converted guys in the back, which can be used as Ghulam or as brawlers whenever I need those. I never really field these guys anymore :( But they just look really cool. I started playing HB, and Muyibs were always the backbone of my lists. The SpecOps are converted to blend in with them. I have converted one to run with a Spitfire while the proper ones wait in line (I think I have 7-8 more to paint!)
One can never have too many Janissaries... but there are too few poses. Time to convert! Painted the Hortlaks in the same scheme as the Jannies, and converted a Sniper. Also, am I the only one that does not like the new Asawira? Here is my old one and 2 converted ones. New friends and old friends we hardly ever see anymore. The Mukthars are just a great unit. I converted one to a viral rifle and one with a red fury. The Ayyar and the Govad are absolute awesome sculpts that deserved better rules... Have more of both to paint but they never seem to get priority. Now, talking about great sculpts and great rules... The Nahabs! The lady with the red fury had this weird leg/knee position that some careful bending fixed, but overall the models are beautiful.
Ghazi are funny... one moment they where on every list I had, the next they are gone... I mostly use one these days, but I still have 3 on my paint line. Now, I know two of these are not Lasiqs, but they just "fit" with them... and them being core, who knows? Maybe I can field a 5-man fireteam one days. If I eventually paint my Knauff, I already have the scheme for him. What is Haqqislam without medics? I also have this converted N2 Ghulam as an engineer, or who knows, a monstrucker? I have the new support group, but I kinda like these old ones. I need more Barids, but I will have to convert him somehow... Hunza and Bashi there (a conversion from an old Ghulam) I hardly use, but I got them painted and they just look great. The Farzan is another piece I need to paint another for my lists.
Ragiks are another unit that I have this crazy idea I might field a whole core team one day... I have two more waiting for some paint. So, I hate tactical rocks, if you look back you will see I transformed most, if not all, in boxes or something less "natural". So I had a tough time with Bill. Had to get him some proper legs, and the end result is pretty nice. Same with Yara... I have no use for Odalisques, but the model is awesome and a simple gun swap away from a proper Yara Haddad. Laila and Yasbir are oposites. Laila is a must include almost... Yasbir I feel deserves better rules and a better model. Had to include Al-Djabel with his fiday friends... The older models kinda look tiny compared with the awesomeness of the new one, but I can always field them all ;) And finally the man, the legend, Tarik. I always loved the old model, but the gun selection was just weird. Giving him a Spitfire that he looks to be shooting on the move, mid-leap, just fits the character.
Now, starting with the motor pool... Chicken bots are just fun... I thought it was a bit lame when they released the new remotes and they went with the "general" look, because these old ones are so characterful. I have another 2 to paint, and use them mostly as flashbots. The new ones and the Camels will eventually follow. I know Carmen is not technically Haqq, but I just use her with my RTF, so she is part of the family :) These riders are just amazing, and with the changes to bikes on ITS 13, they are also cheap powerhouses The twins are older models, and so fiddly it hurts, but Zuleyka is a BEAST now...
I really hope they bring Kasym back with a BANG!, because he is one of the best models out there... just beautiful. While they don´t release the Shakush model, I had to improvise. This anaconda got a head swap to make it "Haqqier" and was mounted on a double base, so I can use it as either model, and I also have ordered a large size spitfire to personalize it. Finally, Maggie. Probably the most awesome large model in the game.
And it's Three to the Tohaa time... As usual, basic troops first. I know most people are not crazy for the Kamaels, but I kinda like them... cheap specialists with decent WIP? I'll take one! Still need to muster my own WIP to finish painting them, but the truth is that it is hard to justify spending SWC with them. Makauls are awesome... 'Nuff said. Some of the best warbands in the game. Kaauri are underappreciated, I feel. They are some of the best "back" troops in the game. I just wish they had some triad option.
Now for the must-haves... Sukeuls are the best gunfighters Tohaa has... and they look great. Lost count of how many lists of mine the anchored. Kaeltar were my favorite crutch playing Tohaa. CoC AND Simbiomates... how do you not take them? And yes, that´s a custom bug... I made it to use with the Taqeul Officer, and then they changed the rules! Gao-Rael were also pretty prevalent on my lists for the longest time... but not so much lately.
On N4, the Taqeul is pretty much a must-have as well... I converted mine from the new Hatail Ops, giving her a Tohaa pistol. The other Hatail used to be my go-to proxy, but she is so much more dinamic... I need to paint more Clipsos... I love to use them, and the models are great. I am yet to try the Nikoul on N4, but I used to love him on N3. The Kotail, on the other hand, I never managed to fit in my lists. Neema was my lieutenant more times than I can count. Love the model and she is HARD. Wish they shaved a few points of her on the transition to N4, though. The other Ectros, however, I could never really justify.
I already loved Igaos before N4, now they are just amazing. Kumotail are cheap enough to justify using with an chaksa auxiliary, and with triad they are just great. Sakiels were always pretty good, and I have 2 more waiting to get converted. Aelis is a hard sell... one of the only 2 hackers in an army that does not use them. Unlike many, I like the Gao-Tarsos... tough drop troopers are always useful in this game, and they look just amazing.
At some point, there was no justification to take the Gorgos... now I still think they are just a bit overpriced, and cannot be healed (cmon, CB, a fast fix solves this!), but they are very good. No more flame vulnerability, multiple options and a fantastic looking model.
Now some merchs and my HVTs I have this one mini I just liked... Riddick as a ABH was just too good to pass. It is not ITS legal, but fun to use in friendlies... The PanO HVT makes an awesome CSU, IMHO, and that ABH with the 2 pistols is so nice! I want to eventually rebase all my HVT to plain bases... but for now these work fine. Got another 3 or 4 waiting for paint. The lowly warcor is so useful, and I use my libertos as both themselves and proxies for Helots when I need those. Lastly, McMurder... It is an older mini, and the basic pose is not my favorite, but with a reposed sword arm I think he looks ace.
When I started playing, it was already N3 and This Hafza was already a bit old, and I finally managed to get myself one... I don't even play QK, but I love the pose and look on this guy.
While these guys are all converted (heads, weapons, backpacks, etc...), they are far from ITS legal... but I wanted to do Brawlers that would fit with my Haqq. And they look pretty nice on the table :) The two guys with rifles have been done for months, I even included them in the picture with my Ghulam before. The SWC guys (Medic/Engineer, HRL and Sniper) just got done yesterday.
So... after all minis are done and photographed, I finally start checking Army and find the the Rudra is S4, not S3 like the other remotes... Time to rebase!
