A trooper shoots a heckler out of line of fire by bouncing a shotgun template through a remote. As the trooper is in ZoC, the heckler jams rather than dodging as the odds are better. Is this is still F2F? We played as such but in hindsight it feels weird as how does a comms attack stop a bullet? A second related question, does the trooper need to be in the front arc of the heckler as the jam ARO is a BS attack? A third question, how about if the trooper WAS in line of fire and the heckler chose jam as ARO (possibly if the trooper had camo or something making the jam the most effective roll)? Still F2F?
Jammer has the no LoF trait, so the position of the shooter relative to the heckler is irrelevant as long as he is inside of the ZoC. That said, the heckler would have had the ARO generated when the trooper entered his ZoC, not when he was hit by the template, unless the active unit had stealth (or declared his activation sequence in the reverse of what is normal).
Additionally, if the “target” of the shotgun is the REM, then the Heckler’s Jammer isn’t an FtF, because the template is going down regardless. The Jammer would be normal, and the Heckler would simply roll ARM versus the template.
Nope. An impact template is f2f with attacks of those who are hit by it, even if they are not the primary target of the attack. Teardrop Impact Template example. All targets react by Shooting. In the same example as above, imagine the three Fusiliers now have LoF to the Hellcat, and all three declare BS Attack as an ARO. In this case each Fusilier makes a Face to Face Roll using his BS Attribute against the Hellcat's two BS Attack Rolls due to his B2. Each Fusilier's result only affects him, and does not affect his comrades 'Face to Face Rolls against the Hellcat. Let's suppose the main target Fusilier wins his Face to Face Roll against the Hellcat. In this case the Attack against him is cancelled, and the Hellcat is forced to make an ARM Roll. However, the success of the main target Fusilier doesn't cancel the Attack of the Hellcat against the other two Fusiliers. Each of them must to face his BS Attack Roll against the Hellcat's two BS Attack Rolls. Fusilier 2 wins the Face to Face Roll against the Hellcat who is forced to make another ARM Roll at the end of the Order. However, the Fusilier 3 loses his Face to Face Roll, and he is the one forced to make an ARM Roll.
The requirement for a roll to be face to face is : For actions to be resolved with a Face to Face Roll, both troops must affect each other directly. If either action does not affect the outcome of the other, use Normal Rolls instead Does the shotgun template affect the Heckler => Yes Does the Heckler jamming affect the active trooper => Yes So it looks like a face to face roll
