Proxy rules, Ironclad (TAG fatality), Reduced combat groups (no steal regular orders from 1 combat group armies) stay, yay! Long service: finally. Landing assistance: now Yuan Yuan can arrive in partial cover. Not sure if that's good. Bravery: MIs get FD+1. Imo this is good for us. Friar, Bolts, Bagh-mari, Nisse all benefit. + all the objective changes
Definitely some cool stuff. The new AD rule is pretty interesting. I don't really know how it works for coordinated jumps, though.
Normal AD rules would still apply though yes? No touching scenery, 0-vis zones, etc. Moot point in this example since no cover MOD to impetuous troops. Bravery is a great addition I think as far as adding options to list building goes.
Edit: this is wrong, and there's no strikethrough, so making in light grey, so less visible but still readable. I think the no partial cover came from the fact that the circular template couldn't touch any scenery. Now there's no circular template and nothing about partial cover, so I suppose it's legal. MIs needed that buff IMO. It just seems there are other MIs that benefit from it more than our MIs. I suppose it's better on already good stuff.
Troopers using Airborne Deployment cannot deploy Prone or in base to base contact with another model, Marker, mission objective or piece of scenery. Nope thats a restriction in the AD rule.
Starting up the field is nice for MI links, but I'll use it heavily for lone MI fire support pieces like the lone Bagh Mari HMGs I use a lot in Acon, or Nisse in Vanilla. It's less about range, but more about being able to deploy on that favorable rooftop, or in that partial cover just outside the DZ. I also feel slightly more inclined to try the Bagh Mari Haris, which I didn't like before since it always feels like ~45 points to give +1 Burst to an HMG. But starting a little closer makes the Combi or Boarding Shotgun a bit more relevant.
I already thought PanO had a nice selection of MI ( Granted, this is coming from a primarily YJ player, so... any MI is kind of a lot of MI, I suppose. ). Akalis and Crusaders benefit from the AD buff as is ( I will count this as a buff, since the amount of time I saw a nice corner for an AD troop to land that was inaccessible is too great. ), and Nisses with Bolts and Friars seem pretty happy to get the FD Lv1.
The classified mission PREDATOR is also quite intriguing. Finally some encouragement for knights to go into CC rather than shooting stuff up.
Nanoespianage: so while I roll for WIP, opponent rolls CC, I fail glorious Pano WIP, and get rect because even a Swiss guard can win a CC if he's unopposed? Who came up with this idea?
Engaged doesn't get cancelled automatically if you are in BtB with an unconscious or immobilized troop ;)
Father Knight F.O. flash pulses the target , runs up and steals their wallet and then chops them in half. You got Nanoespianage and half of predator.
I think the idea is that you run up, chop them in half BUT NOT TOO MUCH, and then steal their wallet.
I don't understand this. Standard: NANOESPIONAGE REQUIREMENTS: Engineer, Doctor, Paramedic or DataTracker. Objective: An Engineer, Doctor, Paramedic or the trooper designated as DataTracker must be in Engaged state with an enemy Specialist Troop, spend a Short Skill and succeed at a Normal WIP Roll. Extreme: "NANOESPIONAGE REQUIREMENTS: Engineer, Doctor, Paramedic or DataTracker. Objective: An Engineer, Doctor, Paramedic or the trooper designated as DataTracker must be in Engaged state with an enemy Specialist Troop in a non-Null state, spend a Short Skill and succeed at a Normal WIP Roll." So it's sane in standard mode, you just need to kill a specialist, just not too much, move there with an engineer/doctor/paramedic/datatracker and succeed in a WIP. wtf. And in extreme mode dude has to be alive. Yeah, that's like the best case scenario, and still sounds pretty bad.
Why not Bagh-Mari core? HMG and shotguns and glories combi + light shotgun! Playing too much Tohaa recently, what do people do with a full core?
You can still immobilize the dude, engage them and roll them dice. Flash Pulse, ADHL or Stun ammunition are your best friends.
Stun from a pistol or Flash Pulse seems like the most likely way to get Nanoespionage on a living target. Otherwise you are going to eat an unopposed CC hit, smoke or no smoke. But, yeah, the MI improvement doesn't do enough for Bolts and probably wasn't necessary for most of the rest of our MI. Black Friar Multi is probably the only one I'd have given it to if I was hand applying to only the units that I wanted to improve (and I'd do more for Bolts, maybe push them straight to lvl 2?). Without smoke we aren't going to be able to exploit the Xenotech as hard as others, 'though it will still offer useful protection against mines/DTWs for some offensive pieces. Despite that abuse I think the Xenotech is an interesting addition which will be fun to play with. I'm mostly just glad that the positive additions from other years have been retained, and that there is still a mix of simple and complex missions. The return of Objective Rooms (even if I never use them in my events) is very appreciated.
Well, we Tohaa have them on just the Gao-Rael, and Stun is only available to us in the form of grenades on a Frenzy unit. While PanO he those nice MULTI weapons.
