Sorry guys, but I got a question I have a hard time finding a definitive answer. So : do you need LoF (outside of LoF blocked by a Zero Vis zone) to declare an Intuitive attack ? That's all. Thanks in advance for your answers.
You only need LoF if the target is under a state that blocks Attacks. You do not need LoF with a ZVZ involved, but the ZVZ needs to be the reason why you do not have LoF. These are OR conditions, so a Camo Marker in Smoke is a valid target, because the ZVZ condition alone is enough, even though you can't draw LOF to the Camo Marker. Note that under any other scenario than those 2 the target is not valid for Intuitive Attack for different reasons. i.e. covered by a Marker State that does not make exceptions allow (Intuitive) Attacks like Impersonation. Or in Total Cover due to terrain preventing BS Attacks altogether.
Most importantly from that is that you can't Intuitive Attacks a Fusilier that you already have in your LoF. Important as some players wanted to make a FTF WIP roll rather than trading an auto-hit template vs enemy ARO. Shotgun are not DTW anymore, but it could have been tempting for impetuous Chain Rifle troops that doesn't have any other ranged weapon to use in a FTF (or simply that their resulting BS is lower than their unmodified WIP).
The question was rather concerning a friendly trooper dropping mines from a point outside of line of sight of ennemy camouflage tokens (without any troopers visible) throught an intuitive attack From my point of view you can because the requirements are fullfilled (state prevents a friendly trooper from performing his attack) so he can drop his mine by succeeding his WIP roll.
Intuitive Attack with a mine doesn't have a target at all. All the rules in the Intuitive Attack rule are for a BS weapon.
While placing a mine does not require a target, you can't go dropping them willy-nilly. While not a requirement for Intuitive Attack, the last effect point does say "An Intuitive Attack must be declared in order to place a Deployable Weapon on the gaming table if there is an enemy Camouflaged Marker (CAMO) inside its Trigger Area." I agree with colbrook, the marker prevents placing the mine (not as a camo rule but as a mine rule : "A Mine cannot be placed if there is an enemy Camouflage Marker inside its Trigger Area. This restriction does not apply if there is a valid, non-camouflaged enemy inside the Trigger Area, or if an Intuitive Attack was declared.") which in turns allows you to declare Intuitive Attack to overcome that restriction So you do need to do an Intuitive Attack. You'll do it even if the camo is behind total cover from your model (as it is still in Trigger area of the mine). You don't need to drop ZVZ in order to then be allowed to declare Intuitive Attack : Placing a mine. And you don't need to gain LoF to the marker to make that Intuitive Attack.
