Interested in Morats

Rodoks are one of the top link teams in the faction, so if you are already familiar with link teams, get them.
Suryats can make for good solo lieutenants or a nice haris team with Kornak and a raktorak;
Zerats are situational, they CAN be good but they can also do nothing;
Get the Worm and the little worms, it's the only doctor in the faction so you might need them.
The Q, E, M and R drones are all useful for different reasons, so are Ikadrons, so consider getting those too.

Since you are familiar with Infinity already, you might want start with a rodok box, support pack box, rodok missile launcher blister, drone blister and the suryat box. If you add Bit&Kiss, a pair of ikadrons and a krakot it would make a list like this:

Not a bad start by any means, has some nice board control, but can be improved by future purchases as you buy up your forces.

 

Consider no more. The Morat HI models are some of the best sculptures in the game and the Sogarats have two gorgeous models, from either Starter box or blister pack to refresh your game with simple brutality!



Infamously, you can run a pair in a Fireteam with Kornak for a wrecking machine that, since it'll cost half your army points and provide NO Specialists is completely bonkers, but also guaranteed to make you smile.

If you're in a play group who argue for a safer game with less confrontation and risk, the Morat Sogarat offers the refreshing solution of Stomp-Down-The-Middle-Of-The-Table-And-Camp-The-Objective simplicity,

You can change the lone Zerat for a vanguard hacker to put assited fire on the Q-drone. Your best bet are in Raicho, Rodok HMG at same time the Q-drone as active and strong active pieces. Also the Zerat can start the open game to do spec grenades over the regular camo markers and forcing to discover or killing the hackers menaces with the; shotgun, deploying mines, if they are a hacker you can drop a pticher with Bit and kill him with hack attack and bring the way of the team, Raicho or the lone Q-drone.

So, this ITS 10 season starts good for a Morat view with the advanced deploy with MI as the Rodoks and stay near arround the Zerat teams, also Yaogats, Raktorak and Kornak too. As a directly sectorial like MAF, you need play with any fireteam core in active turn more aggressive than the other factions, all of then carry with a nice arsenal to do the heavy firefigths.

"Limited Insertion" theme list, but with 11 orders in pool with Kornak LT option. You have doctor, 2 hackers to buff with fairy dust or assited fire on the Q-drone and killing all hackers with Bit. Strong list against hacking attemps, and powerfull active pieces; Suryats HMG, HRL and MULTI rifle, also Kornak beast on link bonus with mk12. Well balanced list, but you lack the strong base of sectorial: "cheap orders" and easy smoke combo, but you gain a lot of firepower and hacking defense.

Not a complete list in terms of "mission pushing", but you can do a nice base tricks and sinergie. Hungries team; cheap orders and litle farm of CC beast and some orders to bring the best bet on MAF on this season together with the new Raicho. The Rasyat can kill anithing on CC, switch the safe deploy jump zone, spend on ecplise grenades and hunt the LT, the TAG or the other big menaces over your army.
2 Zerats on the table, same FO and a "cleaner" with flamer or go to risk her on the enemy mid table near of the line of deploy side on 9s PHY and start to flaming people or put a copule mines.

So, the best choices in general for a competitive MAF games, are the special haris on kornak+suryat+raktorak or haris of yaogats (sniper+LT panzerfaust+panzerfaust profile), or a single sniper yaogat, couple of daturazzi and krakots, Sogarat LT AP HMG.
Under my experience, a single Zerat are a waste of points and oportunity to deal against camo, surprise or more dirty list, so always ill prefer to go with 2 couple of Zerats or 3 when the mission requires more singernie can do on MAF (last ITS 9 season for an example).

Satlock combo with M+E drones, and coordinated spec fire with 1 FO Zerat + 1 Krakot grenadier or 2 FO Zerat. Some orders to do that drity play and a lot orders to run the Rasyat or bring the 2sncd or 3rd turn the hungries team. Rather times ill go with 2 Krakots 1 grenadier and a 1 with Red Fury as the Datatracker on the last missions when you need to kill the designated objective, but for now ill shwitc to a Zerat FO or that krakot with submachinegun.

Always you need to go 1st, its the safe bet to do some damage on direct games to clean up all things as possible. Add if possible: Q-drone+Vanguard hacker. My experience says for the active turn as "lone" ligth attack pieces; Q-drone assited fire, Raicho (BS 14 shock ammo), Krakots and Rasyat. Core bonuses; Rodok HMG core bonus, Suryats HMG/HRL bonus core, Kornak mk12/CC bonus core, Oznat vulkan bonus/CC with hungries. And special mention once my first attemps against dirty list, the Yaogat core with smoke tricks with long order on: discover+shoot against camo spam list, runs effectly only for that.

Well, if you don't spend some money when you have alrready Nomads miniatures, you can proxy some MAF profiles first, also if you have nomads REM, can be proxed to CA drones on s3. But if you want specially MAF miniatures, you can start for the rodok box and the rodok ML blister, and go to proxy then as Suryats, or on the other way, Suryats to Rodoks, but you need the Suryat HMG blister and the box are able only 3 of them + 1 hmg blister are 4 total suryats, then, a kornak + raktorak vulkan blisters and you can go with full or haris core. When the rodok box with 4 + 1 blister (5 Rodok man link), you can go with 3 Rodoks proxed to suryats + kornak + raktorak blisters and 2 last rodoks on special haris with 2scnd raktorak proxed on another miniature and playing with a 400pt game with suryats special core+special haris fireteams + bit&kiss + dr.worm, or a full core suryat link + raicho + ikadron + bit&dr.worm. Thats under your prespective of your expending the money.

1st Buy the zerat blisters yeah, 2 miniatures on the same pack and good MAF profiles on the first turn to starting the clean way.

Bit&Kiss. The best cheap "support profile" antihack on CA and MAF option, really buy her.

And my preferences to playing with other list and playing more "efficiently" and competitive:
New Raicho.
New Rasyat.
Oznat vulkan blister+Hungries box.
Yaogat sniper.
Krakots. 1 krakot blister or 2. Proxed as daturazi too.
New Kurgat. Proxy him as the lone vanguard hacker or cheap LT. Or reserve him when you jump on CA vanilla and playing with the Avatar to put a cheap engineer.

Added for the future expanding:
Sogarat AP HMG. (Over my preference... as a better and cheap resilent LT, Suryat LT are amazing to run in to the frontline with 6 BTS with tin bot.) but that 15 PHY with automedkit on Sogarat can you bring back a nice LT option against regular weapons (type: HGM, spitifire and combi rifles)...
Daturazi box.
Dire foes 1 Anyat (yeah... she is OK and playable).

Remember of the best bonus added on season 10 benefits on MAF: Adv.deploy1 on MI profiles, free template restriction on AD troop, you can jump with the rasyat over a box or a bridge or the best and dirty deployement corner. Also all characters are asigned to Veteran profiles. Kornak + Anyat are Veteran and the "Hunting party" mission, gains ADSHL for free... specially over Anyat on 25pts; smoke-E/M hand grenades, K1 combi, chain colt and the FREE ADSHL nice weapon toolkit with climbing plus, and Kornak's BS bonus on link team best than a Suryat shooting the ADSHL.

 

Don’t undersell Zerats, in DataTracker missions they’re amazing, in general gameplay I often max them out, and am always sure to take my AVA1 in vanilla even, love the gear on the FO profile.

 

I asked this before elsewhere, but maybe it’s useful again for newer players. I love Morat models, their units’ high PHY and EI Hacking, but I don’t like playing Fireteams.
How practicable are Morats in plain* Combined Army lists?

*Note my conscientious avoidance of ‘vanilla’

 

Are you intending to run a few Morats along side other CA units, run predominately Morats or run just Morats?

Alongside other CA troops they have their uses. Daturazi are very useful and Yaogats provide MSV2 coverage. Anyat is sometimes useful as are Rasyats. Other than that my *plain* lists feature few Morats.

If you were to run mainly Morats with out fireteams I think you are probably hamstringing them tbh. They lack any excellent gunfighters really. BS14 Kornak or BS12 mimetism Rodoks are about as good as it gets. They also lack a lot of the other tricks to compensate for that. The only infiltrator is a Zerat which is non-camo and while Rodoks and Raktoraks can now start 16" out you'd have to spend a lot of orders moving pieces upfield with no obvious Rambo unit to focus on.
You are sacrificing order efficiency and bonuses for no benefit imo. They aren't the most forgiving faction to start with and I think you'd be making it even more of an uphill battle.
A Rachio and a bunch of individual units would probably work OK for non-button pushy missions.

 

Krakot, Daturazi, and possibly Kurgat and Rasyat are troops that can get a slot in Vanilla (and not be just fillers), plus the Specops (since the Shasvastii just stays the first turn as an egg).
Yaogats might see use, but people use the Maakrep since they already have her from the starter... and THE MSV in the CA Army is the Charontid anyway. All Lt options but aspects have a penalty of 1 SWC (usually subsumed if they had a cost in their sectorials).

Good summaries, thanks guys. The harsh word to beware of being half-assed with Morats is duly noted.

Playing them in their Sectorial, I get good value out of both Anyat (Specialist; K1; Climbing Plus all give a good return on the investment) and Kornak too (decent BS; strong CC; NWI; Strategos L1) iare those skills at their cost not also useful in vanil.... Combined Army?

 

Vanilla CA has so many tools at it's disposal that many Morat models become lost in the shuffle.

 

Short answer: No.

Long Answer: Kornak is espensive as all hell and even costs an extra 1 SWC if you take him as a lieutenant, which if you don't you don't use his strategos. Besides, he isn't that much better in melee than a speculo, who costs way less and can be placed anywhere in the table.

As for Anyat, her smoke throwing isn't even as good as a speculo, and her K1 rifle is very short ranged. So yeah, I don't see her being that useful.

However, the Vanguard Hacker is the cheapest hacker avaliable to combined, so I see him a lot on my lists too. I also like taking a Suryat or Sogarat as a backup body when my Aspect dies.
