Got a few people together who are keen to try the RPG. But we're all super keen on integrating it in some way with the Infinity wargame too. Ideally in a kind of traditional way, ie players facing each other, not just "PvE" scenarios against the GM and his mooks. Off the top of my head, simply running games where you include some sort of Avatar for your character is pretty straightforward. But... why would characters who work together in an RPG fight each other on a regular basis as part of special forces squads? The best I can think of is training, but thats not particularly exciting or leading to player investment. It is a nice way to hand out EXP buffs between RPG sessions though. So just wondering, if anyone here has done this, how did you go about it?
We tried it a bit in our group. We converted some of our characters to tabletop as well as homebrewing some of our NPC's and played through some small battles our characters did in the campaign's downtime for fun. Not really characters against eachother, but against space yakuza drug dealers and such. Usually not full 300pt games but still a lot of fun. We even tried doing some 3-way battles and such as part of just playing around with the game.
