If Code 1 is supposed to be the bridge between the Operation: Whatever intro boxes and the full rules of N4, then that's a good thing. Infinity is really complex. Hopefully N4 is going to pare down some of the (bad) Rules complexity without paring down the (good) Tactical complexity.

It's a good idea, I can't really grow infinity in my area as it's got a rep for being "too complex" "too hard" "dude, I just wanna play a FUN game and not need a degree" kind of thing. C1 could really help with that.

I too wish to avoid telling people how to use exploits such as voluntarily not using stealth to force AROs, how 9/10 time shoot is the viable choice, how engage is often a trap ("see this wall? Yer getting stuck to it"), and how to use smoke/white noise + a spare link team mook/madtrap to force an aro so you can bust an enemy big aro threat with ease and no fear of reprisal.

So yeah, I get that CB has made the game stagnate due to rules bloat, and hope it'll be fixed, otherwise the collection will be getting trimmed down.

Putting people on a wall as a result for an engage ? Don't think it's legal.

Stealth is a rule with so many corner case and exploit that I wouldn't mind it go away in N4 (HI infantry evading hacking, what happen when you don't say if you use stealth or not, stealth vs 6sens in a repeater network etc. )

I totally agree with you on stealth, though

Probably not the correct topic to discuss that point of rule. But as a TO I would definitely say no. And as a player I would definitely call a TO, and ask to be able to change my ARO if he ruled your way.
That FAQ is quite clear to me.

This can only be exploited by troops with climbing plus, since they have the ability to end a short move skill on a wall surface. There’s not really any way around it, though.

I think it's easier to come from the point of view that "Operation: XY" is a board game, and code 1 would allow you to expand upon the base board games. However, these board games have rules and concepts that are expanded upon in the miniatures game proper.

Bu-u-u-ut... Why would you buy/play a boardgame (a pretty random one) with awfully limited replay value. Also this board game is not cheap. Also, you'll need to glue your figures.... Also unpainted metal figures look awful comparing to colored plastic. There is a new futuristic zombicide/Others/Nemesis/whatever_title_with_nice_miniatures and near it there is an "Operation XY" box - from point of view of a common boardgame player I'd have no reason to buy "Operation XY".

I've played the Operation boxes as boardgames with my non-wargaming friends a few times. They enjoyed it. I don't agree about the limited replay value tbh, it's a tactically flexible game which means it's quite replayable in our experience. That said there was a while between each time we played.

Will your non-wargaming friends ever-Ever-ever buy any Operation XY box for themselves? I was saying that buying such box for a common boardgame player makes no sense.

what is the problem of steatlh vs repeater network with 6th sense?

regarding the C1/N4. I hope they started this months ago and that they are about to finish it. It can be a good way to get new players into and a good meta-change for veteran players. If some profiles are out, there is gonna be deep changes in the list creation phase.

It's not my place to question WHY a customer might want a product. But, if it's happening already, why not capitalize on it? Code 1 massively enhances the replayability of the "board game." And I know there are people who enjoy painting their board game pieces; I've seen the painted board game pieces.

I don't know if you have any experience with Guild Ball, but i'm looking at this the same way. Guild Ball was a miniatures sports game that appealed to Board Game players in such a way that the company took the property in a more board game direction (for better or worse). Code1 could be seen as a splitting of the property so that it appeals to a wider audience. If it works, it'll actually be good for the stability of the company.

or ...mostly to former WH40k\WFB players tired from complicated and long senseless games... And there are also Deadzone, Kaosball, ??Blitzball??, Dreadball ... even Aristea! :) ...emm... but I do not recall any of them to have a split easy version of itself (OOook...blitzball - lighter version of blood bowl, which is not so much lighter but it is GW, they can experiment, create, delete their own products in a matter of several months)...

Hows that? 5 missions... first three missions can be played in 15-20 min each. Missions are the same, but now you put your little container here, and this house there? Now I've rolled crit instead of you rolling hit? Modern boardgames with miniauteres gives so much more... Take Gloomhaven with it legacy unendnig missions and stories...hell...even Zombicide has more variable missions then "operation xy" ...

C1/N4 has been in active development since the beginning of the year according to Bostria.

Personally I'm expecting C1 to be next year's Gen Con splash release, with N4 to quickly follow. That would match the release of Icestorm and N3.

"According to Bostria", I know he is staff and so, but I would not say he is a trustworthy source (too much.... lets call it, mistakes).

I will not put my bets in any date, they might also show C1 in february as a way to create hype for n4 with some new troop names in it

He's been a lot more accurate since they started sending Bostriasitters from marketing along with him.

Allow me to remain doubtful about that. I know some of those "mistakes" were because of changes taken after his declarations (so those where not mistakes at all), and some others were just that, mistakes. But there are some that were nothing of that.
