what would everyone want to see? best case scenario if CB resources were Triple A budget would love an 1st or 3rd person RPG realistically for a first time project (both resources and programing) and keeping true to their universe and feel, i would be satisfied with a xcom/phoenix point style of game.
There was one project. Nuked when the studio shut down. Models pointed to some kind of FPS or squad level strategic game (troops not civilians, 10K triangles).
I would love to make a short little fan-made RPG game just for fun in the Infinity universe because I like it so much, but I obviously can't do that without violating CB's copyright. I'm just really passionate about the world-building and designs, love 'em to death :)
Making a game like XCOM would be too much like Infinity itself. Personally I'd like to see a TAG-piloting game or a Su Jian piloting game.
if you can make it, and you intent to take no money for it contact CB to get permission, explain what you plan to do and can show portfolio of previous work. i may have done that already for another fan project i may or may not do in comic form :P
Tbh I wouldn't mind just a digital version of defiance with a level generator added on for replayability
I may ask them, I think a little RPG in-universe might be fun. I would have no intention of selling it or making money off it, just love the IP.
XCom (or rather, Phantom Doctrine) is basically Infinity already. In fact, I'd really like to borrow drone/air strikes (easy enough with Smart weapons) and especially the off-table sniper from PD for Infinity! Wouldn't be bad to borrow that core game engine/concept (not the graphics, the campaign), just to get more computer/console gamers interested in the setting. You could also 'abuse' the Mechwarrior game for a mercenary version.
i thought of an xcom-like game precisely because they are mechanically similar and on a coding/ animation level can (but not always) be lighter on the workload for the same amount time build time assigned and hide clunkier animations and ai behavior compared to a strait up real time action game. nothing is more rage inducing in fps game making is watching the ai "vibrate" because it cant decide on which path/behavior to follow
If they went all out, I'd want a Mass Effect-style 3rd person Shooter/RPG. I think it would fit right in. On a lower budget, I think a RTS or Tactical RPG would work nicely. For Indie, a Side Scroller/Platformer where you play a Dog Face or a Crazy Koala.
I wouldn't mind seeing a mass-army or space-combat computer game in the Infinity setting, as an expansion to the universe.
I'd love to play a videogame of @Kathara_Khan's TAG-Soft (and obligatory plug to his story thread: https://forum.corvusbelli.com/threads/the-avalon-chronicles.402/)
I guess a first attempt to do an Infinity game should be Independant game, with basic graphics as it requires less money and time. Could be a turn base RPG or tactical game. Isn't Aristeia on TTS already a kind of video game ? Isn't there allready some games we could do some MODs with ?
Infinity: Online. Just the game, but on digital format. It'd be a secret way to get the staff to answer some of our unsolved questions by seeing what they coded to work or not to work :d
I don't know what that game could be, but we would still be waiting patches for issues found about 2 years ago atm while hearing about how devs don't really need any help with testing.
An FPS would be nice. Either that or a mech game where you pilot TAGs. An XCOM clone is really easy to fuck up and we can already play that on tabletop. We'd probably just get a hack'n'slash with Joan or some random knight, tho.
