Hi Guys, After purchasing the red vel starter and the beyond box im up for expanding. I know that Haq players like to use as many minis as posible but what are the options for using more of the heavy infantry units in vanila Haq.

I have a relaliking for the new Ayaar minis, the Al Fasid and Tarik. Im just struggling to se how a list would work give the strengths of large order counts.

Any advice on what to get next would be great hoping that a new sectorial will be kind to my choices now.

    Regards

I don't play Haqq so I can't give you pointed advice on what to get. What I can say is that while spammy large order count lists do have an obvious advantage, that doesn't mean that 10-order, single combat group lists full of big badasses that synergize well together are helpless in the face of their mountain of order tokens.

I edged out a CHA list a couple of weeks back that definitely had orders up on me, but whose spammy camo dudes just couldn't cope with a 2x Gao Rael, 1x Makaul Triad storming up one flank of the table in turn 3.

Play around on Army and see what you can come up with. I promise you that you can make it work.

If you're looking to run a few HI then it's worth giving the Janissary Akbar Doctor a thought. Bring able to restore 2 Wounds rather than one can be a huge deal.

I don't play Haqq either but I love these sorts of questions as it makes me look closer at all the different profiles and options and combos I might come up against.

Just by a quick look in army, it seems that Qapu Khalqi has the most access to HI with your abiliity to take up to 5 Jannisaries and 3 Azrail while still being a sectorial (if that is what you are aiming for). My buddy plays Hassassins though and loves the Asawiras. Other than that are there not rumblings of Ramah coming sometime in the next year or so? Might be worth sticking with Vanilla for now and just play the beefy bois the way you want in case Ramah ends up being all about the HI.

Regardless of faction I try to encourage new players (assuming you are new, otherwise ignore this) to stick to Vanilla for a little while until they determine what type of play style they like. Then shift slowly into the sectorial that does that play style well. I burned myself by not doing this when I started playing. I have a bunch of Caledonian models sitting around that I never use because I found out after buying a bunch of the models I didnt like the play style. Just a friendly caution :grinning:

    Big, pricey Haqquislam... mmm...

You need a Farzan, because of Chain of Command (plus is an specialist in the middle table). The 'Hawwa is a must aswell, with the Tuareg Medic, but since she is a Hidden Deployment troop I cannot suggest to pick her AND an AD troop, so it's one or the other.
Then the Fasid is quite the swiss army knife, which is something you want on reduced groups. Tarik also gives you punch, resilience, and very interesting tactical options thanks to SuperJump (move around, get to high places, riddle enemies with holes). If you don't want to risk your Lt in this kind of situations, Saladin is the ideal one: keep him back, cover a place, and give his order to those who can best use it that turn!

Being in generic, you have plenty of medics. But few engineers. Fortunately, the Kaplan solve that! Mimetic engineer with good stats, and an option for an Adhesive Launcher!

A Fiday is like a must in Haqquislam, but if you go playing with a single group you need for him to clear the enemy in the first turn enough for this Alpha Strike to be worth it... without placing them in Retreat!!!!

Finally, a Djanbazan with HMG is quite useful, and the Mutta'Wiahs are too good to pass on... but if you just need smoke and want troops with more speed, the Nazarova Twins (only the flamethrower one is good, the other play her as a regular Khum) are your choice.

HI in Vanilla? I think 4 of them at once is absolute maximum when it comes to orders per utility ratio. Most of the time i'm running AzRail HMG and LT Asawira (with CoC Farzan) and i am ending with 14 orders.

Azra'il is absolutely worth considering, especially the AP HMG. The Al Fasid HMG does more, but costs another 10 points. Also does not have AP ammo on its HMG, which makes a massive difference when hitting other HI or TAGs.

Then again, a Janissary has an AP rifle (and I think the Akbar medic carries it too...), while the Al-Fasid HMG also carries a grenade launcher, regular grenades, smoke grenades, and mines (plus is a minelayer). Much more flexibility, and smoke for the Djanbazan to work with :p

Well praying to Allah always works for me...

But in all seriousness, there really isn't a whole lot. Haqq HI have low BTS (Asawira being the exception), and I actually usually find a distinct lack of AHD's in lists. I usually dont worry about hacking defense because of this.

Baird killer hacker + Hunzakut FO + REM (Rafiq or Fanous) is a fantastic way to create a defensive grid for cheap. You can easily discover camo hackers and kill them with lightning.

*Edit: BONUS - Add an Al’Hawwa or, even better, Barid Assault Hacker to shut down opposing HI. Now you won’t be out-gunned or out-hacked, and your big HI can clean house.

*Edit: An engineer goes a long way, keeping your HI operational. The Hafza Lt. can hide as another Janissary, Ayyar, Asawira, or pretty much anything else. This will deter attacks against him and nothing will be an obvious Lt.

Hunzakut is an awesome toolbox, and extends your hacking/protection with repeaters and mines.
    The Ghulam ML is awesome.
    Muttawi'ah are awesome.

Al’Hawwa has higher WIP, camo, and can infiltrate to cover the HI upfield. All of this for less points. REMs will act as repeaters to extend this if need be. Barid are even cheaper, and have a pitcher + upgrade: icebreaker or lightning, depending on your choice. The Barid hacker can also be a Lt, furthering it’s usefulness. If you are playing hunting party, Kaplan’s are the way to go, IMO.

Yeah, hunting party is a diferent story, but we have better options for that too, like @oldGregg said, Kaplans are a good choice for it, especially the Eng one.
