I've just played a game of Highly Classified where HVT Designation was one of the Main Objectives. With last orders I managed to do a single Spotlight with Zoe (she rolled 19 on the second spotlight) in group 1 and then made a yolo run with Stempler to do 2 shots of Forward Observer rolls and also roll 19 on one of them. To recap: I have done 1 successfull spotlight and 1 successfull Forward Observer roll on enemy HVT for the sake of HVT Designation. Should the objective be counted as a success in such case?
HVT Designation reads: The player must succeed at two Forward Observer Rolls or two Spotlight Hacking Program Rolls against the enemy HVT model. The player is authorized to perform this type of Attack against the HVT model. [my emphasis added] RAW, I'd say you must do two FO's or 2 spotlights. A combination of 1 FO and 1 spotlight would not be sufficient. However, this is an edge case, so I'd also say ask your TO before you go for the FO attack.
I feel the same, and I'm conflicted about this. The RAW suggests that it should be that way and I'm leaning to this approach. Consulting the TO doesn't work in this case as I am the TO :D The thing actually happened in a league game, where Zoe had 2 Orders and whiffed one Spotlight roll and then I had 2 Orders in second group on my Stempler to try the same and he also hit only one of the two FO rolls (as he used the first order to pull closer in safety to the firing position).
Have to be 2 Forward Observer or 2 of Spotlight. It's not posible to do a combination od 1 FO and 1 Spotlight.
