As the title says, I'm struggling to include the Vet. Kazak in any of my lists, since the fireteam changes. Before he was set in a Core-link of Line Kazaks, wrecking enemies with his AP HMG. But after the changes I can't find a good spot for him. What is really sad, because he is my favourite model in the whole game. He was the reason i started with TAK as my first Infinity Army. But now I think that he is too expensive in a Line Kazak Core. A Line Kazak with AP HMG get's BS 14 too for less than the half of the points. loosing the BS bonus from 16 down to 14 is a really great loss. And a veterans core link (Frontoviks/Veteran Kazaks) is too expensive. With such a team, my lists only get 10 models and I'm missing other stuff that I really want to include. Sometimes a forward observer Veteran Kazak find it's way into a list, but I'm really missing that sweet BS 16 AP HMG... Do you find a place for him in your lists, where he can still wreck enemies with his HMG?
A lot of troopers toon the same hit as the veteran. In my opinion he still is fine. With mimetism and More resilence he is still a Premium Pick for gunman in a core or haris. Personally i would play him in a haris with Frontoviks for burst 5 and live with BS13 as a full core is somewhat unwieldy to move. But that might be a matter of Personal preference. Try him out in comparison to a line kazak in a core and even if it might not be the most optimized pick anymore, if you like the Model play it.
He's mimetic and has a decent BS. The mimetism is what wins you gunfights. The whole era of cheap HI being propped up by a cheap link has mostly gone now. I'd be tempted more to use him in a duo or haris to tow a specialist up the board now. He doesn't really need a clunky bunch of line infantry around with him for the bonuses, though extra burst from a haris is always nice. I could see a haris of a frontovik engy/LRL and a 112 working well for missions like highly classified or countermeasures
I often slap this dude with : - 2 line kazaks at 9 pts for cheapest haris in the world - frontovik paramedic and engineer because objectives matters (Voronin is also funny there) - 2 other Ratniks because it's always a good laugh Vet Kazak is still a beast !
I have used this list with quite optimal results, although it is true that the one that has worked best for me is using the 4 Spetnazs that TAK allows Veteran ────────────────────────────────────────────────── GROUP 1 6 1 SPETSNAZ (Surprise Attack [-3], Camouflage, Mimetism [-3], Decoy [1]) Heavy Machine Gun / Pistol, AP CC Weapon. (0 | 20) 4 SWC | 300 Points Open in Infinity Army The "key" is that they have allowed us to have the Traktor Mul without Dozer, which lowers points, the Strelok are units that for a few points do a very good job for me in mid-table, also the Frontovik with Sniper thanks to its pure fireteam protects very good and with a fireteam of 4 you still make it go to BS14
Under N3, I always liked the load-out with X-Visor, and stick him on suppressive fire & in cover to lock down an avenue. A tough ARO piece for my opponent to take on - also risky to face, given how easy T2 ammo can bring down any attackers, should the dice rolls go against them. (With BS13, ARM4, Mimetism, Sixth Sense, B3 - from suppressive fire - and cover, that's quite a list for any opponent to get past). Out of curiosity, you don't include Voronin in the "Veteran" core fireteam then? And if so, why not?
So, if he's in the fireteam as well, that means you'll have a 5 man fireteam, right? Or have I've miscounted?
Yes: Frontovik sniper, Veteran HMG, Veteran paramedic, Frontovik Engenieer and Voronnin, i usually prefer 5+1 but its more expensive, with 5 you can "hunting" another snipers with visor1 and smoke
I still run Vet Kazakh even without the core bonus. Sixth sense + Memtism still slaps against ny local meta. As you can just face to face camo tokens and other dirty tricks. Also don't sleep on the t2 rifles. Tbe aphmg is tempting, I love it, but the paramedic with a t2 is a serious contender to pointman a Haris. He can heal in a pinch, he can push buttons, and t2 hits way harder than it has any right to for its price.
