I'm mostly asking this due to expecting that ( hopefully ) the new Coldront box will be getting a Beyond Operation: Coldfront expansion, like the other two Two Player Introductory Battlepacks have. The release of Coldfront has kind of nuked all interest in Aleph or Ariadna for me until I can find out if such an expansion will arrive... after which I would reconsider collecting them, since the Beyond kit SHOULD probably fill up both the forces in the main box up to 300 points in a single combat group. So I'm wondering how long until we get to see confirmation of the Beyond kit existing and it's contents, if it will exist at all? Also, what do you guys/girls think will be in that box?
Based on what's been shown so far the Beyond Box will likely come out later this year, I'd say October maybe. Can't really base this on the previous boxes because the Beyond boxes are a relatively recent concept. However we do know what is in this box which does support it coming out soon, https://forum.corvusbelli.com/threads/get-hyped-nerds-for-august-releases.23688/page-34. We also know the stats and at least 1 profile for each unit in the box.
We have till now only two beyond boxes, whos operation boxes where released in different years. So we have no comparison, otherwhise the answer would be 1-2 years. I've heard, the release of the beyond coldfront box will be this year.
The original Beyond boxes were launched together the year after Red Veil, which was three years after Icestorm. All of them were Gencon releases. In the Beasts of War video (which discusses the contents) Bostria said they originally intended to release Coldfront and Beyond at the same time, but then decided to stagger it so retailers, and producing weren't given too much at once. We should hopefully get an idea of release date on Saturday at the Gencon Seminar.
Hmm, interesting. That reminds me, Gencon is coming soon, isn't it? Wonder what they'll tell us about the campaign then-
Is this saturday (Talk is at 7pm CET i think) Normally stuff about the campaign, this years releases so far, next couple of months and one or two other surprises
Pretty sure Carlos said the Beyond box would be out before the end of the year. They originally planned to drop it at the same time but deemed it was "too much stuff". I'd be expecting Nov/Dec. Likewise the Asura and dog handler were early releases of blisters that will come out "within a few months".
If I were timing the release, I'd make the Beyond box available 2-3 months after the Operation box. You don't want it the month after, because people will hold off on buying the Operation box until the Beyond box is out to get both at the same time (costing you launch sales). But you don't want to delay it too long, either.
Im kinda more interestead in the split starter boxes at this rate, haha, I want a second set of russians for my lists.
It's things like this that make me feel a lot of the community are akin to spoiled children. "Here's a new BIG BOX that is coming soon!" The fans: "....yeah okay...and what comes after it?" Now I see what Gutier was talking about at the UK masters 2 years ago for being careful about release schedules :P How about we get the product in our hands and maybe work with the minis before lamenting the lack of more? :D
It's not so much the lamentation of the lack of more... just that I find the combination of the two player boxes and their beyond expansions together to be greater than the sum of their parts. Feels more complete to me is all. Still, if we are going to talk about what's also in the box... that Ariadna HI looks pretty damn stylish!
You like the Warjack? The Blackjacks and the Ratnik are my least favorite S5 HI in all of Infinity. Nothing works in mind when it comes to their designs. Now Aleph on the other hand... I'll take a box of those Dakini and then their SWC box please. Really, I like everything on the Aleph side of this box set (duh, started with vanilla Aleph back in N2... read: barely any Greek units).
Putting it politely, the reasoning behind much of the lamentations is that the community now knows that these two products are intended to be complimentary. There was similar discussion when Red Veil and the accompanying Dire Foes set(which also had models included in the army lists, I might add!) were released with lag between them. The idea of this being people behaving petulantly or like "spoiled children" is quite frankly rude.
No talking sense! Everything must be released in such a way to satisfy the demands of every player, be they active on the forums or not, and without regard to what army they play or, really, without regard to any real world logistics/practicality/etc.
Oh lord, don't even remind me about that "WTF does it take a month from CB bringing some early releases to GenCon before they're available in the stores?!?" thread...
